Wakil Doubles With Aces

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jamil Wakil
Jamil Wakil

Jamil Wakil raised and then faced a three-bet by Chan Sung Choi before he pushed all-in for 27,000 total. Choi asked for an exact count and then reluctantly called despite some confusion about the correct amount.

Jamil Wakil: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Chan Sung Choi: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The {10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop and {9-Hearts} turn kept Wakil in the lead, though, Choi picked up some equity with a gutshot. However, the {7-Spades} river was no sucker punch as the 2023 PCA Main Event finalist doubled to remain in contention.

The opponent of Strobel jammed for 23,000 into a pot of around 65,000 and Strobel sigh-called with the {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for the second nuts.

Zarco Beaten by "Lucky River"

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Three ways to the {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} turn, El Mostafa Ederoua bet 5,000 and then faced a raise to 11,500 by Jeremie Zouari as well as a call by Javier Zerco. Ederoua opted to fold and they went heads-up to the {4-Hearts} river.

Both players checked and Zouari tabled the {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a straight, after which Zarco sighed and flashed his cards to the Frenchman. The dealer made sure that all players on the table got to see them as Zarco clarified "just a set" while the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} was shown.

"Lucky river," the Spaniard continued and bemoaned he should have raised it to 30k on the turn.
