Bobby James opened to 60,000 from under the gun before Philip Joyce three-bet to 150,000 from middle position. The action folded back to James, who committed most of his stack, leaving a single big blind behind. Joyce snap-folded and got shown QxQx.

The following hand, Eleftherios Sinnos raised to 60,000 from the button and quickly folded when James made another effective all in.

Damir Zhugralin raised to 60,000 in the hijack and Oliver Weis three-bet to 240,000 in the small blind. Zhugralin quickly folded.

Zhugralin opened to 60,000 again the next hand and Anton Kraous called in the cutoff. Weis then three-bet to 255,000 and Zhugralin folded once more, but Kraous called.

The flop came 7♣5♥2♥ and Weis continued for 80,000. Kraous gave up his hand as the field headed off on dinner.

Chakib Mhiri raised his small blind to 105,000 with A♦8♦. Lander Lijo looked down at 7♥6♥ in the big blind and called. Mhiri bet 55,000 on the 8♠J♥5♣ flop and Lijo called. Mhiri then sized up to 150,000 on the J♠ turn.

Lijo called to the Q♥ river, where he folded his missed straight draw when Mhiri slid in another 150,000.

Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the 18th episode, Connor speaks with author and psychologist Maria Konnikova about her family leaving Russia to come to the US, writing her first story in kindergarten, being mentored by Steven Pinker at Harvard, meeting Erik Seidel for the first time and her 2020 bestseller The Biggest Bluff that explored her poker journey.

Konnikova, a PokerStars ambassador, also talked about her research for an upcoming book into cheating in poker and other games, as well as game integrity rule changes implemented at EPT Barcelona that Konnikova said needed to go even further.

"I think what PokerStars has done is amazing. I think you need to go a step further and not have any electronics anywhere on the table," said Konnikova. "Like, I think phones need to be on the floor, in your bag."

"I would actually also ban sunglasses because ... there's so much technology that (that can enable cheating)."

Lander Lijo opened the button to 80,000 and Andrea Dato called out of the big blind.

On the flop of 7♠4♥2♥, Dato checked it over to Lijo, who fired a continuation-bet of 145,000. Dato called.

A 3♣ dropped on the turn and after Dato checked for a second time, Lijo announced a bet of 325,000. Dato pondered for a while, then again called.

When the Q♥ landed on the river, Dato checked for a third and final time, and Lijo checked back. Dato showed 7♦6♥ for a pair of sevens, and Lijo mucked.

The flop came A♥7♠2♥ and Suvarna bet 80,000. Kraous then moved all in for 295,000 and Suvarna snap-called.

Suvarna had outflopped Kraous's pocket kings and left him on the verge of elimination, but Kraous spiked the K♠ on the turn to make a set. The river was the Q♦ and Kraous doubled up, leaving Suvarna on an extreme short stack.

Lyubovetskiy checked again on the Q♣ turn and called a bet of 160,000. The 7♥ river was knuckled again, prompting Lyubovetskiy to table 5♣3♣ for bottom pair.

Kashani showed a higher pair with J♦10♠ and took down the pot.

James used a time bank and then four-bet to 885,000, leaving himself 50,000 behind. Two quick folds followed and the pot was shipped to James uncontested.
