Wakil Withstands the Pressue

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Jamil Wakil
Jamil Wakil

Sonny Franco opened to 3,000 from the hijack and was called by Jamil Wakil and Christophe Morbee from the cutoff and small blind. Marc Pronilow three-bet to 13,000 from the big blind, and Wakil was the only player to call.

Wakil called bets of 11,000 and 18,000 on the flop and turn for the final board to read 874J5.

Prinilow, with 36,000 behind, went into the tank while he mulled over his options. He settled on a check which prompted Wakil to move all in as the slightly shorter stack. Prinolow didn't like the spot and found himself back in the tank for several minutes. It looked like he was going to call, but in the end, he let his hand go.

Amiel Plays His Hand Perfectly

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Hassan Nashar moved all in for 16,000 in middle position and Alexandre Amiel called in the cutoff.

Hassan Nashar: K9 All in
Alexandre Amiel: AA

Any hope Nashar had of cracking Amiel's aces evaporated once the flop came 7AA to give Amiel quads. The rest of the board came 49.

"Always a sweat," Amiel joked.

"You didn't need a sweat," Nashar replied as he headed for the rail.

"Tough to play," Amiel added.

"You played it perfectly. You're river play was spot on," Felix Schneiders joked.

Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen made an unexpected return to the EPT and was in the mix early on.

Hansen, who was a Day 2 registrant, was involved in a hand against Andrea Zanzarzi.

There was around 20,000 in the pot on the AKQ1010 board. Hansen checked from the big blind and Zanzarzi bet 7,000.

The Great Dane wasn't thrilled about the bet but did make a fairly quick call.

Zanzarzi tabled 1010 for quads tens, which left Hansen with around 10 big blinds.

"Let's go," Gus Hansen said as he moved all in for 12,500 from under the gun. Hansen began twirling his finger encouraging his tablemates to let him have the pot. They folded around to Julien Mariani on the button, who called.

"He hasn't lost a pot," Rehman Kassam told Hansen as he peeked at his cards in the big blind and reshoved for 95,000. Mariani tanked for a minute before folding.

Pitoun Turns Set, Hallay Rivers Straight

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Benjamin Pitoun raised to 3,500 from late position and Axel Hallay moved all in for 36,000. Pitoun called and players flipped their cards, with Hallay at risk.

Hallay stood up to leave, a common trick for making the cards fall favorably, before the flop ran out 8QK to give him a pair of kings. He sat back down, then the turn brought the 10 to give Pitoun a set.

"It's not over," said a neutral player as Hallay once again started to stand up.

The river was the A, which completed Hallay's straight. After a rollercoaster of a board, Hallay won the pot and doubled his stack.
