Rau Gets the Jump but Not the Double

Level 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The flop 48A was already dealt, and Philip Joyce had a bet of 75,000 in front of him, enough to put his opponent, Eduard Rau, all in. Rau used some of his timebanks, and when he was sure he secured a pay jump he made the call.

Eduard Rau: K10All in
Philip Joyce: QJ

Rau's king-high was ahead of Joyce's hand. The 10 on the turn improved Rau to a pair but also gave Joyce many new outs with a double-gutter. The dealer revealed the J on the river, giving Joyce a pair of jacks to eliminate Rau and further climb the leaderboard.
