Mehdi Senhaji raised to 60,000 in the hijack before Xiaowen Zhao three-bet to 170,000 in the cutoff. Senhaji then four-bet to 535,000 and slammed in his last 1,065,000 the second Zhao announced "all in."
Mehdi Senhaji: A♥A♦
Xiaowen Zhao: A♣K♣
Senhaji had woken up with two aces and hit the last one in the deck on the A♠J♠3♥ flop to make top set. The 10♠ turn gave Zhao some outs with a straight draw, but Senhaji held on the K♥ river to earn the double up.
Bora Kurtulus raised to 60,000 under the gun. Gianfranco Iaculli called in the small blind, prompting big blind Conor O'Driscoll to three-bet to 275,000.
Kurtulus folded 6♠6♣, but Iaculli moved all in. O'Driscoll spent some time scouting the outer tables before he called off his stack of 1,305,000, worth over 40 big blinds.
Conor O'Driscoll: A♦K♠
Gianfranco Iaculli: K♣J♦
O'Driscoll's ace-high remained best on the 7♣8♠4♦3♣Q♠ runout, doubling him up and placing him among the leaders in the Main Event.
Pasi Laihinen moved all in for 350,000 in the cutoff and Ding Fan called on the button.
Pasi Laihinen: 10♣9♣
Ding Fan: A♥J♠
Fan took a big lead on the A♦5♠4♥ flop with top pair. "That's bad," Laihinen said, and the 6♠ turn left him drawing dead. The river was the 6♦ and Laihinen was eliminated in 22nd place.
Xiaowen Zhao raised to 60,000 under the gun before Traian Stanciu three-bet to 175,000 in middle position. Ding Fan called on the button, while Zhao got out of the way.
The flop came 7♣5♣5♥ and Stanciu checked to Fan, who bet 150,000. Stanciu then raised to 375,000, and Fan called.
Stanciu moved all in for 590,000 on the 6♥ turn, and Fan snap-called. Stanciu showed A♥A♠, while Fan had A♣3♣ for straight and flush draws. The 8♠ river was safe for Stanciu, and he doubled up in pot worth nearly 2,500,000.
"Disgusting. Very disgusting," Fan said with a big laugh, keeping up his boisterous and affable personality despite taking the hit.
At the same time, at the other outer table, Vasyl Pidhrusnyi had bet 40,000 from the hijack on a flop of Q♣10♠3♥ and Dominique Liebrechts called on the button.
Pidhrusnyi bet another 75,000 on the J♥ turn, and Liebrechts again called. The river was the 10♥, and Pidhrusnyi checked to Liebrechts, who bet 400,000.
"Ace-king of clubs? Doesn't make sense," Pidhrusnyi said as he went deep into the tank, taking several minutes before folding.
Matan Krakow raised to 60,000 in the cutoff before Chaofei Wang moved all in for 350,000 on the button. "Okay, good luck," Krakow said as he called.
Chaofei Wang: K♦Q♣
Matan Krakow: A♣J♦
Wang took the lead on the K♣9♥7♦ flop with top pair, while the turn was the 6♣. The Q♠ river improved him to two pair, and Wang doubled up to leave Krakow on less than 10 big blinds.
Ding Fan opened to 60,000 from middle position, and Mehdi Senhaji called from the cutoff. Fabian Bartuschk raised to roughly 700,000 on the button, committing almost his entire stack. Fan reshoved, covering both players, and Senhaji folded K♦Q♦ face up, not realizing that Bartuschk was not quite all-in yet. Bartuschk then called off with his remaining chips, putting himself at risk.
Fabian Bartuschk: 9♣9♥
Ding Fan: J♣J♠
The board ran out 8♥10♠10♦A♠5♦, keeping Fan in front with pocket jacks to eliminate Bartuschk.
Thomas Bazin opened the pot with a raise to 60,000 in the hijack. Gianfranco Iaculli in the small blind weighed his options for a bit before he upped the ante to 225,000.
Conor O'Driscoll was in the big blind and four-bet to 450,000, leaving only 180,000 behind. Bazin quickly folded his 9♦8♦, but Iaculli moved in over the top. Driscoll instantly called.
Conor O'Driscoll: A♦K♣
Gianfranco Iaculli: A♣5♣
Iaculli's ace-five threatened to become a flush after the Q♣J♠3♦10♣ turn, but O'Driscoll's Broadway straight was way ahead. The A♥ river changed nothing, and O'Driscoll locked up the pot and doubled up.
Pasi Laihinen raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and Dimitrios Gkatzas called in the small blind.
The flop came K♣K♠2♠ and Laihinen bet 40,000. Gkatzas called to the 3♦ turn, where Laihinen bet another 175,000. Gkatzas then raised to 400,000, and Laihinen called.
The river was the 9♠ and Gkatzas bet 605,000. Laihinen stood up from his seat and began shuffling his chips in his hand as he went in the tank, taking a few minutes before folding.
"Never bluff," Ding Fan said to Gkatzas.
"Of course. You know better," Gkatzas replied, bursting out in laughter.
Tobias Peters open-raised to 60,000 under the gun. Thomas Bazin flatted one position later, after which it folded to Ivan Uzunov in the big blind. He jammed his stack of 425,000.
Peters called, prompting Bazin to get out of the way and fold his 10♦10♣.
Ivan Uzunov: A♣J♣
Tobias Peters: Q♠Q♦
Uzunov caught an ace on the 9♦K♦A♦ flop, but Peters earned the checkmark by hitting a flush on the 2♦ turn. Uzunov said his goodbyes as the meaningless 9♠ river completed the board, exiting in 24th place.
Jeffrey Sarwer raised his 6♠6♦ to 60,000 in the hijack, and Eyal Maaravi called in the cutoff with 8♠8♣.
Gianfranco Iaculli wanted to put in a three-bet to 250,000 on the button with 8♦4♦, but accidentally announced 150,000 instead. The floor was called over, and it was ruled the sizing would stand at 150,000, despite Iaculli's protests.
Sarwer and Maaravi both called to the J♦2♥Q♣ flop, but they folded in quick succession when Iaculli placed a continuation-bet of 150,000.
