Luciani Drills Broadway to KO Wiciak and Soares

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Simon Wiciak
Simon Wiciak

With Simon Wiciak having tripled up in the hand prior, Hugo Soares pushed his final 25,000 across the betting line from middle position. Alexander Luciani made it 60,000 from the hijack to give him some isolation, and when it got to Wiciak in the big blind, he shoved his newly acquired 355,000 into the middle.

Luciani took his time, used a time bank, and then slammed in the call to try and score the double knockout.

Hugo Soares: A♦6♥ All in
Simon Wiciak: 9♥9♠ All in
Alexander Luciani: A♥J♥

Another three-way all-in, and again Wiciak was at risk, although this time he had a stronger hand with pocket nines.

The Q♣10♠3♥ flop gave Luciani some more outs with a straight draw.

The K♥ on the turn cemented Wiciak's elimination from the Main Event, as Luciani had improved to a Broadway straight.

The K♣ river didn't give Soares the chop, meaning Wiciak and Soares were gone, while Luciani's stack grew to over 1,400,000.

Just after the hand, Tiago Souza became the final elimination of this level.

Lopes Leaves the Field

Jose Lopes
Jose Lopes

Level 21
Blinds: 10,000/15,000 (15,000)

On the stream, the action was picked up on a 7♦9♥K♦ flop, where Jose Lopes jammed all in for 100,000 from the small blind. Kalman Dohany called in the big blind, and Grzegorz Kozieja did so under the gun.

Dohany fired for 170,000 on the 4♠ turn, and Kozieja tossed in a call to create a side pot. The 3♠ river was then checked to showdown. Kozieja tabled K♣8♣, winning the side pot by outkicking Dohany's K♠6♦.

Lopes could not beat top pair with A♦2♦, having bricked his flush draw to be eliminated in the first level of the day.

Pritsak Shoves into Juanda's Cowboys

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Oleh Pritsak
Oleh Pritsak

Oleh Pritsak raised to 40,000 from middle position and John Juanda three-bet the small blind to 110,000. Pritsak looked across the table at the Poker Hall of Famer, then, without shifting his gaze, four-bet ripped it in for about 475,000. Juanda quickly called with the covering stack.

Oleh Pritsak: 5♥5♣ All in
John Juanda: K♠K♥

Pritsak had run into Juanda's premium pocket pair and needed a five to survive.

The 9♦A♠Q♠ flop was no help to Pritsak, and neither was the 8♣ turn.

The 9♠ river was safe for Juanda's cowboys, and Pritsak became the newest addition to the rail.

Cimbolas Doubles, No Way Back for Quintas

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Jose Quintas
Jose Quintas

Jose Quintas raised to 40,000 from under the gun, which Jonas ten Cate called in the hijack. Matas Cimbolas then three-bet to 120,000 on the button. Quintas responded by moving all-in for 590,000, which immediately shook out Ten Cate, but Cimbolas snap-called.

Once the stacks were counted, it transpired that Cimbolas had 585,000 in his stack and was the player at risk.

Matas Cimbolas: A♥A♣ All in
Jose Quintas: A♠Q♣

The 10♥4♠5♣K♠2♠ board brought some hope for Quintas on the turn, but his straight draw came to nothing, and with just 5,000 after the collision, he was eliminated a couple of hands later.

Henrion Sent Home by River

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Gabin Henrion
Gabin Henrion

Gabin Henrion moved all in for 150,000 from the hijack. It folded to Albert Grane in the big blind, who swiftly called.

Gabin Henrion: A♥2♠ All in
Albert Grane: K♦10♥

Henrion's ace-high remained best on the 7♠Q♣3♦ flop and Q♥ turn, but Grane paired one of his hole cards on the K♣ river to win the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Kaukua Dispatches Araujo

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Richard Araujo
Richard Araujo

Eduardo Kalil raised under the gun to 40,000 and Toni Kaukua called on the button. Richard Araujo squeezed all in for 370,000 from the big blind, which got Kalil to fold, while Kaukua called.

Richard Araujo: A♥J♥ All in
Toni Kaukua: A♠Q♦

Araujo was in trouble against the bigger ace of Kaukua and needed some hearts or a jack to stay alive.

The 4♣A♦9♦ flop paired both players, while Kaukua's queen-kicker kept Araujo on the verge of elimination.

The rest of the board ran out 9♣2♥, and Araujo became the newest casualty of the Main Event.

Too Many Outs for Asaro

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Antonio Asaro
Antonio Asaro

The action was picked up as Antonio Asaro moved all-in for roughly 175,000 over a raise from Luigi Minolfi. When the action returned to Minolfi, he called.

Antonio Asaro: A♣Q♦ All in
Luigi Minolfi: K♥K♦

The Q♣J♣3♣ flop provided Asaro with a host of new outs, having flopped top pair and a flush draw. Alas, it wasn't to be, as the board bricked out with the 8♠ turn and 5♥ river, sending Asaro to the rail.

Just before this hand, Kalman Dohany was also eliminated at another table.
