Andy Black: Big Stack Artist

Andy Black
Andy Black
Andy Black, ever dangerous behind a big stack, has been using the chips he acquired earlier in the day to continue putting pressure on the weaker, much less-endowed opponents at his table.

Black demonstrated his prowess in a four-way pot between himself, Pascal Perrault, Brandon Schaefer, and an unknown player on the button. Schaefer opened the pot for 800 and both Black and Perrault called. When the action got around to the player on the button, he made it 3,800 to go; Black was the lone caller.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and almost instantly, Black waved a hand through the air, announcing "All in." His opponent folded almost as quickly, flashing A-K before tossing his cards into the muck.

Black has maintained an above-average chip stack for most of the day, and currently has just under 30,000 in chips.

Lodden Continues to Dominate

Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden has coolly amassed an impressive chip stack by chopping away at small pots, and by making a number of difficult, but correct calls.

Lodden entered a three-way pot that was raised to 800 preflop by an opponent in middle position; Lodden called from the button and was accompanied by the small blind. The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and all three players checked.

The turn brought the {9-Spades} and the small blind led out for 1,800. The preflop raiser folded and Lodden made the call. The last card off the deck was the {9-Diamonds} and the small blind stabbed at the pot again, this time for 2,200. Lodden wasted no time making the call, and his opponent, shaking his head, could only produce ace high. Lodden tabled {J-Spades}{10-Spades} and raked in another pot, improving his chip stack to just over 50,000.

He's not quite the overall leader, but he is clearly in the driver's seat at his own table.

Another Irish Star Fades Away!

Fergal McKeever
Fergal McKeever
Fergal McKeever was getting short with 5,500 chips, so when he picked up {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} he limped UTG looking for a raise behind, but he got six callers instead.

The {7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop looked harmless, but when McKeever pushed over David Colclough's bet on the flop, he found the Welsh wizard sitting on the {7-Spades}{5-Clubs} that was dealt to him in the big blind. No help on the turn or river and Fergal McKeever will have to wait another year to improve on his 36th place last year.
