No Dinner Break, No Seventh Level

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

As was the original plan this morning, there will be six levels played today, with no dinner break. Book your restaurants, make your reservations, it's going to be not too long a day today.

Pasi Sormunen Won't Go Back to Back

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Pasi Sormunen made the final table here last year, finishing fifth for €253,000. He won't go back to back though, he has just been eliminated from the tournament.

Sormunen opened for 2,800 from middle position, and Dutchman Rien Wijermars three bet to 6,000 from the cut off. Action folded back to Sormunen, and the Fin pushed all in for 24,100.

Wijermars made the call, and asked if Sormunen had a pair. Wijermars soon found out he was even in better shape than he thought he was. Sormunen had {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Wijermars was the proud owner of {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

Sormunen hit one pair on the flop, but that wouldn't be enough: {3-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and he made his way to the exit.

Stand Up, Suck Out

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

All the chips were in preflop and Sergio Alonso Camunas was at risk but he did have {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him Ivan Neytchev had called with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. It looked like Camunas was heading for the exit door with just a twenty percent chance of survival. That was until he used the one trick he had up his sleeve to swing the odds in his favour. Camunas stood up and got ready to leave.

The dealer put out the five cards in the middle {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{a-Spades}. The stand-up move had worked again. Can it be long before tournament organisers stamp out this sort of player action?

Purak Six-Bets All in

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Zoltan Purak opened to 2,600 and received one caller before the small blind made it 10,600. Purak responded by four-betting to 24,600 and the small blind thought for about three minutes before five-betting to 51,100.

Purak tanked briefly but then moved all in and his opponent folded instantly. The Hungarian player has increased his stack by around 33% without a showdown.

Relaxed Call

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A player in early position opened for 2,500 and Jordi Marcos Fernandez declared all in. It wasn’t his turn to act however and the dealer put out her hand to indicate as much. It was Mikkel Nielsen’s turn to act next and he was receiving a vigorous massage. After a while Nielsen called the 2,500. Fernandez now had his turn and moved in. It folded back round to Nielsen who got the count and made the call with {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} and dominated the {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} of Fernandez.

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Fernandez was out. When he had left the original raiser asked if he had seen the out of turn shove. He had not. “I guess I’m lucky.” He added.
