Georgiou's Kings Bust Neal

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

In a hand between Sotiris Georgiou and Adam Neal, the board was {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} with 10,000 chips in the middle. After the turn brought the {7-Diamonds}, Georgiou bet 6,500 and Neal tanked with 10,500 behind.

"Show if I fold?" asked Neal, with Georgiou immediately nodding. Neal took some more time before calling.

Sotiris Georgiou: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Adam Neal: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The river {9-Hearts} didn't help Neal and he was eliminated.

Davenport Eliminated

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

On a {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board, and with over 12,000 chips in the middle already, Matthew Davenport checked to Paulius Kostickis who moved all in.

Davenport only had around 7,500 chips remaining and called but was shown the bad news with Kostickis holding {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a set and he sent Davenport to the rail.

Jordon Gone; Tang on Top

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

The first cry of "Seat Open" came from the tournament floor with Terry Jordon's seat now empty having been eliminated by Zi Yuan Tang who now sits with over 30,000 in chips midway through the first level of the day.

Jordon Down From Starting

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Action was on a {2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} board between Terry Jordon and another player. With over 6,000 chips in the middle, there had already been considerable action on previous streets.

However, the pair checked the turn and the river was the {j-Diamonds}. His opponent bet 2,000.

"Well my eight-high isn't good," he said, mucking and his opponent flashed the {10-Clubs} for a pair of tens.

Ene Up and Running

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Richard Horton raised to 300 from under the gun and Gabriel Ene defended out of the small blind. The pair then checked the {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Ene check-called a bet of 400 from Horton.

The river was the {k-Clubs} and Ene bet 800. Horton folded and Ene took down the early pot.

Welcome to GUKPT Coventry! Main Event Day 1a Gets Underway at 12 p.m.

Grosvenor Casino Coventry

Welcome to the Grosvenor Casino Coventry for the latest event on the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT). Today's Main Event gets underway at midday with the first of three starting flights in the £1,000 buy-in tournament.

Last month in London, Timothy Chung defeated a record 702-player field to take home £185,560. Players heading to Coventry this weekend will be hoping to emulate his success with another large field expected.

That's because when the GUKPT last visited Coventry, that Main Event used to hold the record for largest GUKPT Main Event field, before it was beaten by London in February. Steve Jelinek was the victorious player, defeating a 607-player field for £105,050.

The Main Event again benefits from a generous 60-minute structure with ten levels played on Day 1 and a 20,000 starting stack. Players are allowed up to three entries per flight, with late registration open to the start of Day 2.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for full coverage from the event as we crown the latest GUKPT champion.
