Berman Finds Cowboys

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player from the cutoff opened the action with a raise to 3,000 and David Berman three-bet out of the small blind to 8,100. Action was on Joey Zahn in the big blind, who called before the original raiser folded. Going heads up to the {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, Berman put 11,000 into the pot. Zahn called, bringing the {a-Clubs} turn. Both players checked, and the {5-Hearts} came on the river. Berman checked again and after a little thought, Zahn decided to check as well with the exclamation that he thought his opponent's hand was best.

Berman tabled {k-}{k-} and Zahn mucked his hand, sending the pot Berman's way.

HPT The Meadows
HPT The Meadows

The cards are back in the air and action is back under way at HPT The Meadows Day 1b.

With the beginning of Level 10, the field is now locked in with the screen reading 95 entries. Added to Day 1a, that means the total thus far is 148, leaving the tournament a little more than 100 short of meeting the $250,000 guarantee.

Of those 95 entries, roughly 60 remain, and they'll play out six more levels before bagging for the night.

Bill Byrnes opened for 2,500 in middle position and was called by the player on the button before Mikey Esquivel jammed for about 16,000 in the small blind. Byrnes released but the button was a bit slower to give up.

"He's slowrolling me, I swear to God," Esquivel said with a laugh, shooting out of his chair.

His opponent smiled and mucked, though.

Snuffer Over Ebanks in Three-Bet Pot

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Joe Ebanks opened for 2,200 in middle position and Iverson Cotton Snuffer made it about 7,500 to go on his left. Ebanks came along for the {6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop and he checked. Snuffer bet big with 13,000 and Ebanks let it go, saying something we didn't hear to Snuffer.

"I didn't really want a call," Snuffer said. "I had an overpair."

Zahn Wins With Turn Raise

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

David Berman bet 6,500, a little under half pot, from the cutoff on {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Joey Zahn made it 16,000 on his left and Berman tanked awhile before releasing his cards.

At another table, Nick Pupillo ran dry on chips again, continuing a frustrating day for the pro.

Dils Check-Bombs the Turn

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Dils was counting out a call versus a player in position on a flop of {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, which put the pot size at over 20,000. The turn brought the {j-Diamonds} and Dils checked to his opponent, who bet 13,000. Dils went all in for about 35,000 and his opponent quickly folded, asking if he hit his flush. Dils shrugged as he raked in the pot and stacked his chips.

Brick City for Bibb

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Chris Bibb, pictured in a different event.
Chris Bibb, pictured in a different event.

Chris Bibb checked from the big blind on {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Rich Finberg bet 6,600. Bibb slowly stacked all of his chips, about 21,000, and slid them in. Finberg called right away with {k-Spades}{10-Hearts} for top pair but he had a lot of cards to fade as Bibb held {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a pair and flush draw.

Bibb picked up even more outs on the {3-Diamonds} turn but the {a-Spades} river was a brick and he wished everyone good luck.
