David Figueroa was down to just 14,000 a short while ago after losing a huge 160,000 coin toss to Lisandro Gallo. We expeceted his demise to follow but he's giving himself every chance to get back into this comp with some merciless shoving. He had already chipped back up to 56,000 when he shoved four hands on the bounce. Starting with an all-in from the button he jammed the cut-off and the hijack before moving all-in over the top of a 30,000 short stack's shove. Figueroa showed to take himself up to 125,000. Who dares wins and all that.
For the first time today play has seemed to slow somewhat. We're only seven places off the money now so it must be starting to play on minds and effect the decisions of the players. Dinner break is coming shortly and it'll be interesting to see how full bellies effects things upon our return.
Pamela Espinosa has just hit a three-outer to double-up to 120,000. Valerio Valera opened to 18,000 from UTG before Espinosa moved all-in for 55,600 from mid-position after a lot of thought. The action folded back around to Valera who called after his own period of thought. Showdown:
Valera:
Espinosa:
Espinosa needed luck and she got it on the board. Valera back on the slide again with 82,000.
Chris Conrad is hot on the heels of Jose Barbero for the chiplead as we approach the bubble (56 players left according to the board). Conrad has a huge pile in front of him totalling 330,000 which he built up in a couple of large pots. Firstly he jammed for 80,000 over the top of several limpers with and was called all-in by one of those limpers Jeet Shergill who tabled . Conrad faded the 3 outs and shortly after won 100k pot with tens against AK. 'My table is definitely losing bad players,' said Conrad but with that many chips you can afford to face better opponents.
Jose "Nacho" Barbero has eliminated two players to rocket clear of the field with 420,000. The first hand saw a player raise to 35,000 (out of an 110k stack) at the end of the last level when the big blind was 4,000. Barbero said he knew he had a pair but decided to take on the race with ace-king and put the guy all-in. The guy called with his pair but Barbero got there.
The next hand Barbero three-bet an opponent holding big-slick again. The player called out of position to see an flop. They checked it to the river where his opponent committed the rest of his chips with ace-jack.
David Figueroa must have been happy when his four-bet shove with tens was called and he was only shown . He must have been even happier when he flopped a set on the flop. Unfortunately arrived on the turn and river to spoil the party leaving the Peruvian with just 14,000. The player that called all-in for 80,000 with the king-queen, one Lisandro Gallo, was left stacking up to 160,000. It was Gallo who earlier lost the monster 260,000 pot to Yacin Vasquez Damian.
Francois Frejdles has won two pots in a row against Eddy Salinas to eliminate him. The first hand saw Frejdles raise from mid-position and Salinas call from the BB. The flop came down and all the chips went in. Frejdles opened for overs and an open-ended straight draw and Salinas opened for a gutshot straight flush draw. The board bricked out and Frejdles took the 140k pot with king-high.
Salinas was left with just 4,100 after posting his blind and 2,000 of that was invested in the SB. Four players gave him action and he actually flopped two-pair but his nemesis Frejdles had flopped bottom set to eliminate him.
Team PokerStars Online's Karlo Lopez is continuing to chip up. Calling 9,200 of his 130,000 stack from the cut-off he checked behind on a flop before calling 20,000 on the turn. He didn't think long before checking behind on the river showing . His overpair was good enough to scoop the 60,000 pot and put him on 160,000.
A limp under the gun was attacked by Jose Barbero who popped it up to 9,100. Ben Barrows called behind and then Baumgartner squeezed it up 30,000 forcing folds all the way around and claiming 33,000 unopposed. Not bad for . Okay, he didn't show that hand but it would have been great for the table dynamics if he had.
