Menendez Rising

Julian Menendez opened to 1,750 in middle position and was called by the player in the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and it was checked to Menendez. He bet 1,700, but was raised to 4,400 by his opponent. A call from Menendez landed the {5-Diamonds} on the turn which both players checked. The {9-Diamonds} hit the river and the big blind bet 7,600, quickly getting called by Menendez.

The {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} of the big blind was second best to the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} of Menendez, giving the Season 4 LAPT Colombia champion nearly double his starting Day 2 stack.

Gonzalez Grabbing More Chips

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

We caught up to the action to see a board read {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and over 22,000 in the pot. A player checked and Fabrizio Gonzalez shoved out a bet. His opponent called and the river brought the {9-Clubs}.

Gonzalez' opponent checked once more and Gonzalez threw out a bet of 7,800. After about two minutes of riffling chips and pondering his action, his opponent threw his hand to the muck, awarding Gonzalez the pot. Gonzalez is now sitting on about 80,000.

Garcia Loses Some

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

The player under the gun opened for 2,000 and action folded around to Juan Garcia who called from the big blind.

The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Garcia checked. His opponent continued out with a bet of 3,000 only to find Garcia put in a raise, making it 6,500 to go. His opponent called and the turn came {8-Spades}. Both players checked and found the {4-Hearts} fall on fifth street. The two checked once more and Garcia tabled {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens and a busted straight draw, but was ultimately behind his opponent's {K-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Although Garcia lost some during that hand, he is still sitting atop the leaderboard with about 144,000 in chips.

Sneaky Menendez

Picking up the action on a {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} flop with about 6,000 in the middle, Julian Menendez check-called 2,200 from an opponent. The {5-Spades} hit the turn and the action was the same, as Menendez check-called 3,500 from his opponent. The river brought the {10-Spades} and Menendez checked for a third time. His opponent fired 18,000, but was quickly met with a re-raise all in from Menendez.

A quick fold from his opponent gave Menendez the pot.

Komaromi Grapples with Garcia

In an interesting enough table draw, we found this event's defending champion, Alex Komaromi in a hand with Day 1 chip leader Juan Garcia. The player on the button joined the two to see a flop of {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

Garcia led out with a bet of 1,800 and Komaromi called. The player on the button got out of the way, allowing the turn to come. Garcia checked when he saw the {9-Clubs} on fourth street and after much deliberation, Komaromi followed suit. The river was the {q-Spades} and Garcia checked once again. Komaromi counted out a bet of 3,350 and Garcia mumbled to himself as he mucked his hand. The defending champion won this round, but who knows what the rest of play holds for these two titans of this event.

Good Start For Gonzalez

We arrived at Fabrizio "SixthSenSe19" Gonzalez's table and found some intriguing preflop action.

Gonzalez was in the small blind and infront of him was a raise to 1,200 by a middle-poistion player, a call from the cutoff, and a three-bet to 4,000 by the player on the button. Gonzalez put in a four-bet to 9,300, only receiving a call from the button.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Gonzalez bet 5,400. His opponent called and did the same when Gonzalez bet 8,400 after the {3-Hearts} turn. The river delivered the {K-Hearts} and both players checked. Gonzalez tabled {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of queens, while his opponent mucked. With that pot, Gonzalez is nearing six figures.
