Dinner Break

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

The players are on dinner break for 60 minutes. When they return, blinds will be 150 and 300 with a 25-ante.

[Removed:565] Busts

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

[Removed:564]' stack was decimated early on this tournament after losing kings to aces in a post-flop pot. He made a little bit of a comeback but eventually ended up with nothing to show for as he just hit the rail.

We missed him (his seat was taken by Maxi Lehmanski) so we asked his former neighbor Robin Ylitalo what had happened.

Ylitalo told us that [Removed:565] got his last 11 big blinds in with {K-}{10-} suited. He got called in 2 spots, one of them being Willem de Jong who won the pot when he bet the flop of {Q-}{7-}{7-} and saw his opponent fold. De Jong turned over {A-}{Q-} and eliminated [Removed:565] after the turn and river blanked.

Stegeman Doubles

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Alberto Stegeman
Alberto Stegeman

Mark Roovers opened under the gun for 500 and his neighbor, Dutch tv personality Alberto Stegeman, 3-bet to 1,700. Shander de Vries, who won the inaugural €2,000 Hyper Turbo at the start of this MCOP, cold-called from the hijack. Roovers called as well.

Roovers checked on {7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Stegeman bet 3,500. De Vries called, Roovers folded.

Stegeman didn't hold back on the {3-Spades} turn, betting 7,500. De Vries called once more.

The {6-Spades} paired the board and Stegeman shoved all in for about 23,000. De Vries contemplated what to do for just a bit before he tossed in a 25-chip to indicate the call.

Stegeman showed {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for the second nuts, De Vries mucked but was forced to show his {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} since it was an all in and call situation.

Spijkers Doubles Through Lykov

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

After a middle position raise, Bart Spijkers 3-bet his button to 1,700. Small blind Maxim Lykov cold 4-bet to 4,200 and the big blind and initial raiser both gave up. Spijkers shoved for 14,550 total and Lykov called.

Maxim Lykov: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Bart Spijkers: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Spijkers doubled up.

Minten Exits

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Niek Minten
Niek Minten

We ran into Niek Minten on the rail, and he told us the story of his demise.

Joep van den Bijgaart opened for 500 and the small blind 3-bet to 1,350. Niek Minten in the big blind and cold 4-bet to 3,300, Van den Bijgaart folded but the small blind called.

The flop came {9-}{8-}{3-} with 2 diamonds and the small blind checked. Minten bet 2,525 and his neighbor check-raised to 8,300. Minten shoved for about 15,000 or so total and the small blind called.

Small blind: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Niek Minten: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-}

The {K-} on the turn spelled doom for Minten and the {6-Hearts} on the river couldn't save him.

Minten contemplates reentering now or waiting for Day 1b to give it another shot.

Minten Loses to Thomas

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Action folded to Julian Thomas in the cutoff and he opened to 600. Small blind Niek Minten 3-bet to 1,900, the big blind folded. Thomas called.

The {3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop saw Minten bet 1,800. Thomas raised to 5,000 and Minten called.

Both players then checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn and {Q-Spades} on the river. Minten turned over {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} but mucked soon after as Thomas tabled {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

MacDonnell Busts Meijer van Putten

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Jasper Meijer van Putten
Jasper Meijer van Putten

We missed the pre-flop action, but table mate Sander van Wesemael informed us that Jasper Meijer van Putten opened from middle position for 500. Marc MacDonnell in the cutoff then 3-bet to 1,800 which forced out the button and both blinds. Meijer van Putten 4-bet to 5,000 and MacDonnell called.

As we arrived, the dealer was just done putting out the flop of {8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Meijer van Putten bet 3,300 and MacDonnell called.

Meijer van Putten bet another 8,500 on the {3-Hearts} turn and MacDonnell called once more.

With the {Q-Spades} completing the board, Meijer van Putten shoved. We're unsure of the amount as MacDonnell called rather quickly and the showdown part of the hand started.

Meijer van Putten showed {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} but he turned out beat as MacDonnell tabled {Q-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}.

Jasper Meijer van Putten has the option to reenter now, later today, or start over on Day 1b and/or Day 1c. So he's out but can still buy back in if he wants to.
