Brummelhuis Takes it on the Turn

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

The player under the gun opened for 600 and his neighbor Michiel Brummelhuis 3-bet to 2,000. The action folded to the initial raiser and he called.

The player under the gun lead out for 2,000 on {6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Brummelhuis called.

With the {4-Hearts} on the turn, the player under the gun bet again. It looked like a bet for 4,400, but he folded instantly as Brummelhuis raised.

Joep van den Bijgaart, who's been playing poker for years and has made final table at the EPT and WSOP, has just taken his seat. Another player who just joined is Jasper Meijer van Putten. Meijer van Putten won the last-ever EPT in Prague last year, taking home almost €700,000.

Vranken Busts Peters

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Antoine Vranken opened and he saw short stack Tobias Peters 3-bet. As the action got back to Vranken, he pushed. Peters called all in for about 9,000.

Tobias Peters: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Antoine Vranken: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Peters was one of the first to exit the tournament.

[Removed:565] Short

Level 2 : Blinds 75/150, 0 ante

We only arrived when the river was already out, but [Removed:565]' neighbor Robin Ylitalo was kind enough to give us the details of what had happened before.

[Removed:565] had opened and a player had called before the big blind squeezed. [Removed:565] answered with a 4-bet and the first caller folded, the big blind called.

The big blind check-called a bet on the flop of 465 and another bet on the Q turn. The river Q saw the big blind check. [Removed:565] shoved and the big blind tanked for a bit before he called.

[Removed:565] showed KK but that hand proved no-good as the big blind showed AA. [Removed:565] was left with 2,500 after the hand.

About Last Night

The Master Classics of Poker is special to the Dutch in many ways. Not only are all the players treated to a free buffet every evening and free drinks and fruit throughout the festival, former winners are presented with a special trophy the next year as well. Every year, the winners from last year's events receive a hole card trophy with the cards they won their tournament with.

Besides the presentation of the hole cards trophies, last night 2 new members got inducted to the Dutch Poker Hall of Fame as well. This year, Steven van Zadelhoff and Rolf Slotboom got honored for their presence in the Dutch poker world. Van Zadelhoff, who won the WCOOP Main Event in September, together with Slotboom, who acted as the spokesman for the Dutch Poker Federation after playing and writing about poker for years, were both presented with a litho.

Besides the 2 new inductees, the Dutch Poker Hall of Fame consists of poker players Marcel Lüske, Noah Boeken, Jorryt van Hoof, Lex Veldhuis, Rob Hollink, and MCOP founder and industry insider Peter Voolstra.

Koot Off to a Great Start

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Jacco Koot told us the details of his double up, a massive chip increase that happened in the 3rd hand of play. He told us the details at the start of the 2nd level.

Koot raised to 300 under the gun, holding {K-}{K-}. He got called in 2 spots: Wim Emo in late position and the player in the big blind.

The big blind checked to Koot on {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Koot bet 750. Emo called, the big blind called.

The {10-Hearts} hit the turn and the big blind checked. Koot bet 2,225 and Emo called again. The big blind check-raised to a little over 6,000 and Koot went into the tank before shoving. Emo folded immediately, the big blind called after about 30 seconds or so.

Koot needed the board to pair with his set of kings as his opponent had the nuts with {Q-}{J-} for Broadway. The river {8-} did just that and Koot doubled.
