Jans Arends opened for 1,000 under the gun and in the hijack, Marc MacDonnell 3-bet to 3,600. This got rid of most of the competition as the action folded back to Arends, who called.

Both of them checked the flop of and the hit the turn, pairing the board. Arends bet 6,000 and MacDonnell called.

The completed the board and Arends bet a hefty 23,000. MacDonnell tanked for quite some time before he slid his cards into the muck. Arends just smiled as he raked in the pot.

Van Wesemael Suffers the Ultimate Beat, Loses Ace-High Flush to Straight Flush

Sander van Wesemael collected his hole-card trophy yesterday after winning his 3rd MCOP event last year

"You just missed a nice hand," Van Wesemael said with a wry smile on his face. "You want the details?"

From middle position, Van Wesemael told us, he opened for 1,000. Small blind Marc MacDonnell called and so did big blind Antoine Vranken.

The blinds checked on and Van Wesemael bet 1,800. Both of his opponents called.

As the hit the turn, MacDonnell bet 5,600. Vranken folded, Van Wesemael called.

The completed the board and MacDonnell bet 15,000 with 30,500 behind. Van Wesemael shoved and MacDonnell snap-called.

Van Wesemael had for the ace-high flush, but it turned out to be no good. MacDonnell tabled for the straight flush and collected the giant pot.

While he lost a decent amount of chips not too long ago when he lost with aces, he still had a sizable stack left. Despite that, he just busted and instantly reentered. His former tablemate (and good friend) Puk Nabuurs filled us in on the details of the hand.

Ruys continued to tell us about a hand where Van Hoof opened under the gun for 700. Daan Mulders called in middle position and the big blind over called.

Van Hoof continued for 3,500 on the turn and got called again.

Schoonbrood Cracks Schemion's Aces With Deuce-Five

We were just in time for the showdown in a big pot between Jean Philippe Schoonbrood and Ole Schemion but missed the pre-flop action. Tablemate Michiel Brummelhuis was kind enough to inform us of what had happened up until that point.

Schoonbrood had raised the hijack and small blind Schemion had 3-bet. Schoonbrood then called, and called Schemion's continuation bet on as well.

The hit the turn and Schemion bet 8,000. Schoonbrood moved all in for 31,300 and Schemion called.

Wesselink Doubles Through Helppi

Wim Anne Wesselink called us over, telling us he just doubled through his neighbor Juha Helppi.

Wesselink opened the hijack for 700 and Helppi, in the cutoff, 3-bet to 2,000. As the action folded back around to Wesselink, he called.

Wesselink check-called a bet of 2,400 on before checking again on the turn. This time, Helppi bet 6,000. Wesselink shoved for around 21,000 and Helppi called.

Wesselink Doubles Lehmanski
