Wolzak Eliminates Peters

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

David Peters, who flew in this morning and registered right before Day 2 got underway, has been eliminated from the Master Classics of Poker Main Event.

Steven van Zadelhoff told us how Stefan Wolzak opened the button and David Peters defended his big blind. On the river, David Peters check-called all in with {Q-}{8-}, having made two-pair. Unfortunately for Peters, Wolzak had {J-}{10-} and a straight by the time the river card landed.

Wolzak, who started out second in chips today, up to over 300,000 in chips.

Veldhuis Unlucky to Chop

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

Action folded to Italo Modena in late position and he made it 4,000. His neighbor Lex Veldhuis three-bet to 15,000, and called the shove that followed in what we believe was a button versus small blind situation.

Italo Modena: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Lex Veldhuis: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

Veldhuis had the best hand going in, and the flop was good for him as well: {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{K-Spades}. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn brought some chop outs to Modena and he "got there" with the {9-Hearts} on the river.

Chop it up!

Ruijs Busts a Shorty

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Joris Ruijs opened under the gun plus one for 3,500 and the action folded to the big blind. With 22,100 total, the big blind shoved all in. Ruijs called with {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. The big blind had {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} but ended up losing the pot to Ruijs who hit an ace on the flop: {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

Michiel Brummelhuis, start-of-day chip leader and his table mate, has a similar stack; both are playing 240,000.

Claas Segebrecht

Claas Segebrecht, who defeated a field of 285 entries here last year to take home €235,087 ($276,804) has just been eliminated from this year's Main Event.

David Peters, who flew in this morning, told us he had reshoved on Simone Strookman. Strookman had aces and called, leaving Segebrecht and his pocket nines in a tough spot. No help for Segebrecht and he exited the tournament area.

Meijer van Putten Shoves on De Jonge

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Jasper Meijer van Putten
Jasper Meijer van Putten

Sebastiaan de Jonge opened the button for 3,200 and small blind Jasper Meijer van Putten three-bet to 15,000. The big blind folded, De Jonge called.

Meijer van Putten bet 9,000 on {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and De Jonge called. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn saw both players check before the {K-Diamonds} completed the board. Meijer van Putten thought about it for a bit, counted his stack, and moved all in for about 85,000. De Jonge checked his cards one more time before tossing them in the muck.

Another Two Bite the Dust

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Clyde Tjauw Foe saw the button raise. With 37,000 in the big blind, he shoved holding {4-}{4-}. The button called and hit with {A-}{K-}.

Jans Arends was down to eight big blinds and saw the small blind shove. Arends called with {Q-}{5-} off which proved to be a small favorite as his neighbor had {9-}{7-} off. The small blind hit a seven on the flop and that was it for Arends.
