Day 2 of the Master Classics of Poker Main Event Commences at 7 PM

Day 2 of the €4,300 Main Event of the Master Classics of Poker is set to start at 7 p.m. local time here at Holland Casino Amsterdam. Day 1a attracted 258 entries and Day 1b pulled in 72 entries to bring the total number of entries up to 330. Out of those entries, 150 players survived the hurdles the Day 1s brought them.

Shyngis Satubayev will start Day 2 with the overall chip lead as he bagged 260,200 in chips on Day 1a. He is followed by fellow Day 1a players Andrea Ricci, Jesse Liljegren, and Paraskevas Tsokaridis. In fifth place in the chip counts is Day 1b chip leader James King.

Other notable names to keep an eye on include Alberto Stegeman who will return tonight to defend his title. Claas Segebrecht, Abdelhakim Zoufri, Ole Schemion, and Johan Storakers have also won the Main Event here in Amsterdam before and will all be looking to become the first two-time winner.

Even though there are no Dutch players represented in the top five at the start of the day, there are loads of them looking to keep the “bordje” in the Netherlands. Players like Tommie Janssen, David Hu, Floyd Rosner, Pascal Vos, Teun Mulder, Rens Feenstra, Jorryt van Hoof, Bas de Laat, Joris Ruijs, Albert Hoekendijk, Steven van Zadelhoff, Fatima Moreira De Melo, and Tobias Peters for example will all be fighting along to keep the title in Dutch hands.

But the foreign contingent won’t roll over easily. Many well-known international poker stars are here to claim their share of the prize pool. Paul Dando, Gary Hasson, Mustafa Biz, Sonny Franco, Igor Yaroshevskyy, Jonathan Abdellatif, Josip Simunic, Kimmo Kurko, Paul Tedeschi, and many more are still in the running.

World Champions Hossein Ensan (16,000) and Ryan Riess (45,900) are also through but with a below average stack, they have got some work ahead of them.

At 6:30 p.m. local time, the Dutch Poker Hall of Fame induction will take place and after those festivities, Day 2 will commence with Level 10 which features a small blind of 600, big blind of 1,200, and a big blind ante of 1,200. Six levels of 60 minutes each are scheduled with a 15-minute break after every two levels.
