Dmitry Kataev opened the cutoff with A♦A♣ to 240,000 and Ivan Pavlov called from the small blind with K♣Q♣. Henrik Brockmann was in the big blind and also came along with Q♠10♥.
The flop came K♠2♣9♠ and when it checked to Kataev, he bet 200,000. Pavlov counted out raising chips and made it 650,000 to go, which got Brockmann to fold. Kataev took a few moments before he called.
When the 6♣ landed on the turn, Pavlov improved to a flush draw and fired out a seven-figure bet of 1,000,000. Kataev quickly called with his aces.
A 4♠ fell on the river and after using some extra time, Pavlov checked it over to Kataev, who fired out 1,800,000. Pavlov quickly folded.
Hossein Ensan opened 9♦9♠ from the cutoff and Andrei Bidniuk called in the small blind with A♦J♣.
They went to a flop of 8♠2♦9♥ where Bidniuk checked and Ensan fired 160,000 with his set. Bidniuk then check-raised to 575,000, and Ensan three-bet the flop to 1,000,000 with his set.
Bidniuk accepted defeat and laid it down, allowing Ensan to scoop the pot.
Sergiu Covrig opened the action with a raise to 250,000 from early position, and Tahsin Cankurtaranli defended out of the big blind.
The two players checked all the way to the river on the runout of 4♣6♠6♣Q♠6♦ before Cankurtaranli put out a bet of 200,000. Covrig called and Cankurtaranli flipped over A♣J♥ for ace-high, which was good as Covrig mucked his hand.
Pascal Hartman had opened from under the gun with K♥8♥ and Nenad Dukic defended from the big blind with A♦9♦.
The two saw a flop of 2♦7♠6♠ where Dukic check-called a bet of 180,000 from Hartman to see an A♣ fall on the turn. Again Dukic checked, and again Hartman fired, this time for 680,000. Dukic called.
A 5♥ completed the runout and with his pair of aces, Dukic checked it over. Hartman pondered for some time, perhaps debating whether to bluff, but decided against it and knuckled back, allowing Dukic to take the pot.
George Tomescu shoved for 1,600,000 from the cutoff and Dmitry Kataev called from the big blind.
George Tomescu: K♦9♦
Dmitry Kataev: A♣10♣
Tomescu needed to improve and although he hit a pair on the K♥A♥2♥ flop, Kataev hit an ace to retain the lead. A Q♦ on the turn changed nothing, and neither did the 10♦ river, sending Tomescu to the rail.
Alexandru Lupuleac got his last 1,450,000 into the middle preflop from the cutoff, after Natan Chauskin min-raised from middle position. After the rest of the table folded, Chauskin called and the cards were revealed.
Alexandru Lupuleac: A♦10♦
Natan Chauskin: K♣K♠
Lupuleac needed to find an ace or some diamonds if he was to make his second major final table at the 2025 MPP. The board ran out K♥J♥4♣7♠5♣ to give Chauskin the best hand with a set of kings, sending Lupuleac to the rail.
When it folded to Zorlu Er in the small blind, he raised to roughly 360,000 with just Adrian State to get through in the big blind. State made the call with only around 240,000 remaining in his stack.
Both players checked the 9♦2♦6♦ flop to see the A♥ roll off on the turn. Er bet enough to put State all in, and State went into the tank. After burning through around five of his time bank cards, State made the call.
Adrian State: K♠8♦
Zorlu Er: J♥5♠
State was ahead with king-high and just had to fade a jack or five that wasn't a diamond to double. The river was the 5♦ to give State a flush, and he earned the much-needed double-up on one of the first hands on Day 3.
