All Diamonds for Khabbazeh

Level 4 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Fabio Peluso in the hijack and Basel Khabbazeh in the cutoff traded raises until each had committed 18,000 to see the 9K2 flop.

Peluso led out for 13,000 and was called by Khabbazeh. The J fell on the turn, with Peluso check-calling a bet of 22,000.

The dealer turned over the 6 river, where Peluso bet around 70,000 while leaving just 500 chips behind. Khabbazeh snap-called and showed A4 to take down a big pot.

Peluso tabled QJ for an inferior flush, and was soon headed to the reentry desk for a fresh stack.

Three players committed 22,500 before the flop, including Meisam Emami in middle position.

Emami fired 25,000 into the middle on the AJ7 flop, with Artem Metelskiy making the call. Emami checked the 2 turn before Metelskiy slid out a bet of 55,000.

After a moment, Emami check-raised enough to put Metelskiy all in. That sent Metelskiy into the tank, taking several minutes before another player at the table called the clock.

As the clock counted down, Metelskiy let the time run out and his hand was declared dead. Emami raked in the pot as players at the table tried to guess what he held.

Bad to Worse for Atallah

Level 5 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was heads-up between Amirreza Roudsari and Michel Atallah through the JK27 turn. With a sizeable pot already built, Atallah asked which one of them was going to move all in first.

After seeing the 9 river, Roudsari did just for his last 21,600. Atallah called instantly and saw the bad news. Roudsari tabled 108 for a straight, while Atallah showed his 77 for a set that was no longer good.

That left Atallah short-stacked, and he proceeded to lose the rest of it when he ran A4 into AA a few hands later.

Lebanon’s Walid Bou Habib defeated a field of 193 entries to claim the trophy in the $3,300 OPE Classic Cup

Habib lifted his total career earnings above $2.3 million, with each of his last ten recorded cashes coming right here at Merit.

“It is one amongst the major results which I have made,” Habib told PokerNews moments after the win. “To get the trophy, it’s always nice because I’m trying to make a nice collection of trophies. I have already three PokerStars trophies, and also four or five from Merit so it will be my, maybe, tenth trophy.”

The tournament needed an extra day to complete, as players battled for a piece of the massive $532,680 prize pool.
