Peters Bubbles the PokerStars Open Main Event in a Cooler

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Donnie Peters
Donnie Peters

Adam Lopez raised to 11,000 from under the gun and Donnie Peters mulled it over from the cutoff before ripping in the last of his 73,000 chips. The action folded back to Lopez who quickly called and the cards were tabled.

Donnie Peters: AKAll in
Adam Lopez: AA

Peters ran into the one hand that he didn't want to see and the flop of 988 left things looking grim. The Q on the turn left Peters drawing dead to the K on the river. Peters was the lone elimination on that hand, leaving the remaining 135 players all guaranteed at least a min-cash of $1,750.

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Ezra Gazal opened to 8,000 from under the gun and was called by Miquel Maimes on his left. Rex Clinkscales reraised to 41,000 on the button and only Maimes called.

They went heads-up to a flop of A54 and Maimes checked to Clinkscales who dropped in a bet of 25,000. Maimes announced a check-raise to 77,000 and Clinkscales pushed all in for around 180,000. Maimes peeked back at his cards and hesitated before laying his hand down.

Grosshanten Has to Sweat the Bubble

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Bin Duan raised to 12,000 in the hijack, Kyle Grosshanten moved all in for 27,000 in the small blind, and Duan called.

Kyle Grosshanten: KK All in
Bin Duan: KQ

Grosshanten had picked up two kings and was a big favorite to double up as the flop came 268, but Duan picked up a flush draw on the J turn.

"Heart! Heart! Don't do me like that!" Grosshanten pleaded going to the river, and he successfully dodged the 3 to secure the double up two spots off the money.

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Pierce McKellar raised to 8,000 in the hijack before Josias Cardoso three-bet to 12,000 in the small blind. Ryan Franklin called in the big blind as action went back on McKellar, who put in a four-bet to 40,000.

Premium Hands Galore!

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Nissar Quraishi opened to 10,000 in early position and Christopher Day three-bet to 27,000 in the cutoff. Ketan Shah just called from the small blind and Quraishi four-bet to 54,000. Day five-bet shoved all in for 184,000 and Shah reshoved all in for 306,000. Quraishi asked for a count and then laid his hand down, flashing the A in the process.

Christopher Day: AAAll in
Ketan Shah: KK

"Wow!" Quraishi exclaimed. "You saved me. I folded ace-king."

If true, that meant Shah was down to just a single out. The board ran out Q10645 and Day's pocket aces held on for a double up.

Heartbreak for Thomas

Level 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Joshua Zucchet raised to 8,000 in the cutoff and Benjamin Thomas shipped all in for 55,000 out of the big blind. Zucchet quickly called and Thomas found himself in a dominating position for a double up.

Benjamin Thomas: AKAll in
Joshua Zucchet: AQ

However, the flop came Q42 and Zucchet took the lead with a pair of queens. The 4 and 4 runout changed nothing and Thomas was sent to the rail just shy of the money.
