Perfect River for Mayer, Terrible One for Steinbrenner

Level 2 : Blinds 400/600, 600 ante

Thomas Alfred Mayer made it 1,500 under the gun with Justin Steinbrenner calling from the small blind, and Seref Anar defending his big blind.

After two checks on the 1027 flop, Mayer placed out a continuation-bet of 3,500. Steinbrenner and Anar called.

The 4 turn checked through to see the 9 roll off on the river. Steinbrenner bet 7,500 with Anar calling, but Mayer raised to put both of his opponents' all in. Steinbrenner had roughly 35,000 remaining in his stack, and after using a few time banks, made the call.

Anar folded, and Mayer turned over 99 for a rivered set of nines. Steinbrenner couldn't beat it with his K10 and all of his chips headed over to Mayer.

Karam & Paniak Didn't Expect That

Level 2 : Blinds 400/600, 600 ante

Raoul Kahme made it 1,500 from middle position before Maksim Paniak three-bet the cutoff to 4,600. Ramzi Karam four-bet it up to 10,400 from the big blind, which Kahme called. Paniak bumped it up again to 36,200, and only Karam called.

With over 80,000 in the pot, the two players saw the dealer fan out a flop of 6J2. Karam started out with a check, and Paniak fired 20,000. Karam check-jammed for around 70,000, which Paniak quickly called.

Karam showed aces and Paniak dropped his head, paused a few seconds then turned over the other two aces for the same hand.

Ramzi Karam: AA All in
Maksim Paniak: AA

Paniak had the chance of hitting running diamonds to bust Karam, but the 9 turn ended that, and the 7 river meant they chopped the pot.

Smolka Wins the First Battle of the Blinds

Level 2 : Blinds 400/600, 600 ante

With 5,900 in the pot on a flop of 9QQ, Andrey Pateychuk checked from the small blind and Dawid Smolka knuckled back out of the big blind.

Pateychuk led out for 2,800 upon seeing the 6 turn, and Smolka made the call.

Two more checks followed the 4 river and Smolka's A8 for ace-high took down the pot.

Wehner Three-Bets the River

Level 1 : Blinds 400/400, 400 ante

On a complete board of 36Q8Q, Michael Wehner was first to act from the small blind and placed out a bet of 5,500. Wehner's opponent in the hand was Vlada Stojanovic, who was seated in the cutoff. Stojanovic raised to 17,000, causing Wehner to go into the tank.

After pondering over his options for a while, Wehner three-bet to 35,500. Stojanovic didn't take long to release his cards and surrendered the pot to Wehner.

Bezhanyan revealed he had turned a flush with 52. Orman couldn't beat it and returned his cards to the dealer.

Nashar Makes Liu the First Elimination of the Series

Level 1 : Blinds 400/400, 400 ante
Hassan Nashar

The first knockout of the series just happened on Table #23, with the action recalled by one of the players.

On one of the first hands of the event, Changyang Liu raised from early position to 1,100 before Ravi Sheth three-bet to 3,700 from late position. Hassan Nashar was a few seats over and cold four-bet to 27,000. Liu wasn't done yet, as he put in a five-bet. Sheth got out of the way, but Nashar six-bet ripped it for about 100,000. Liu made the call for the rest of the stack, and the cards were tabled.

Changyang Liu: JJ All in
Hassan Nashar: AK

Nashar had slightly more chips than Liu, but whoever lost the race would likely be the first elimination of the day. The 745 flop gave Nashar a flush draw and some extra outs. The 4 hit the turn, but the 3 appeared on the river to give Nashar the flush.

Liu headed to the exit as the first elimination of the 2025 Onyx Super High Roller Series, while Nasahr had over double the starting stack.
