Chernikov Plays Aces Slowly

Aleksandr Chernikov raised from under the gun to 2,500 and Alessio Isaia called on the button. Nenad Dukic also called from the small blind.

The three saw a flop of 585, where it checked to Isaia, who bet 4,500. Dukic folded and Chernikov called.

Both checked the Q turn and the 6 river, where Chernikov then showed AA for a pair of aces at showdown. Isaia mucked.

Boika Over-Bets the River

Aliaksei Boika raised to 3,000 from under the gun and Dejan Kaladjurdjevic called in the cutoff. Aleksandr Chernikov called on the button, and Artsiom Lasouski called in the big blind.

The flop came 9A3 and when it got to Boika, he fired 3,000. Kaladjurdjevic then raised to 8,000, which cleared out both Chernikov and Lasouski, before Boika called.

Both tapped the table on the 8 turn and when the 4 hit the river, Boika over-bet to 56,000. Kaladjurdjevic quickly folded.

The 2025 Onyx Super High Roller Series Cyprus continues today at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa with the start of the $25,750 SHRS Main Event. Featuring a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, the three-day tournament is expected to draw a world-class mix of high-stakes regulars, rising stars, and local standouts, all looking to add their name to the series winners list and claim one of the biggest prizes of the festival.

Players begin with 250,000 chips and will play fifteen 40-minute levels on each Day 1. Blinds start at 500/1,000 with a 1,000 big blind ante, and late registration remains open until the end of Level 9, with unlimited re-entries available during that time. Levels increase to 50 minutes on Day 2 and 60 minutes on the final day, ensuring plenty of play as the field narrows toward the payouts.

Those that are fortunate enough to make the money will also earn points toward the Onyx Player of the Series leaderboard, with the eventual winner receiving a $110,000 Triton Poker Jeju package that includes a $100,000 Main Event seat and $10,000 in travel expenses.

The champion will be crowned on August 15, joining the growing list of winners at this inaugural series and walking away with one of the festival’s biggest prizes.
