Vladmir Geshkenbein - The PKR HU Grand Slam Champion
Vladmir Geshkenbein - The PKR HU Grand Slam Champion
Vladmir Geshkenbein battled his way past Alex Keating, [Removed:335], David Steicke, James Sudworth to make it to the final of the first ever PKR Heads Up Grand Slam event.

Facing the always difficult to play against Juha Helppi, the Russian's aggressive attacking play and winning of several crucial large pots allowed him to whittle his opponent down to a short stack, finishing him off at the first time of asking.

Geshkenbein came into the tournament as one of the less well-known players but now goes home with the title as the champion. Congratulations to him and to all of those who cashed in the event!

From Pokernews, it's over and out!

Juha Helppi Eliminated In 2nd Place ($70,000)

Finn-shed - Juha Helppi is second.
Helppi reraised all-in for the last of his chips and Geshkenbein made the call.

Helppi: {A-Clubs} {6-Spades}
Geshkenbein: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

The flop came {K-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {K-Spades} and the Russian picked up a gutshot to hit. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and now gave Helppi even more bullets to dodge as his opponent now also had a flush draw.

The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Geshkenbein completed his flush draw to eliminate Juha Helppi in 2nd place.

The Finn goes home as runner-up, taking $70,000 with him.

Geshkenbein Pushes Helppi Off Again

Helppi raised preflop and Geshkenbein called, the flop was {J-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} and the Finn's continuation bet of 8,000 was check-raised to 25,000.

Helppi made the call and the turn was the {5-Diamonds}, now Geshkenbein moved all-in putting the Finn in the tank.

Geshkenbein said, "I have a very good hand, I don't mind if you call and I don't mind if you fold. I will show."

After a couple of minutes, Helppi folded and Geshkeinbein showed {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} for a pair, gutshot and flush draw.

The Russian has a big chip lead now.

Helppi Attempts Comeback

Juha Helppi has managed to win a couple of pots to put him back over the six-figure mark. First he fired bets on the flop and turn of a {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} to push Geshkenbein off the hand, then reraised all-in against a button raise.

He's heading in the right direction at the moment.

Geshkenbein Stays In Control

Geshkenbein has pushed Helppi below 80,000 now. The Finn raised to 7,500 but instantly folded when he was met with an all-in reraise from Vladmir.

The Russian offered Helppi the chance to see one card and Helppi turned over the {3-Clubs}.

Big Pot For Geshkenbein

Helppi raises to 5,000 from the button and Geshkenbein calls.

Both players check the {4-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} flop before Geshkenbein checked the {J-Diamonds} turn also. Helppi bet 5,000 and Geshkenbein check-raised to 16,000.

The Finn took a couple of minutes but made the call. The river was the {Q-Hearts} and Geshkenbein now fired out 26,000 against his opponent.

Helppi thought for a minute, but then folded while the Russian's chip lead increases.
