Negreanu's Read a Little Off, But Still Correct

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu raised to 40,000 with the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Phil Hellmuth called in position again with the {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and a dominating hand.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn added the {9-Hearts} and both players put in 40,000, with Negreanu check-calling the bet from Hellmuth.

The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Negreanu checked. Hellmuth fired 83,000 and Negreanu went into the tank.

"I have a feeling you made three jacks on the river," said Negreanu. "I feel Phil Hellmuth has queen-jack, a queen and a jack, and I cannot beat that so I'm folding." A correct read by Negreanu that he was beat even though Hellmuth didn't have those exact cards.

Welcome to Phil's House, Daniel

For the third hand in a row, Daniel Negreanu raised to 40,000. This time he had the {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Phil Hellmuth called in position this time with the {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn gave Hellmuth trips when the {J-Hearts} fell. Both players checked again.

The river was the {Q-Clubs} and Negreanu check-called a bet of 60,000 from Hellmuth. Hellmuth tabled his full house and won the pot, beating Negreanu's two pair with an ace quicker.

Huge Coinflip Gives Negreanu One Million

Roland De Wolfe looked down at the {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and just folded it before action moved around to Luke Schwartz. He looked at the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and moved all in for 675,000, nearly 34 big blinds. Daniel Negreanu picked up the {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and called all in for 532,000, which was over 26.5 big blinds. Everyone else folded and these two would be flipping for over one million chips!

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Negreanu stayed in front. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and then the river was the {10-Spades}. Negreanu won the massive coinflip and Schwartz was left with less than 150,000 chips.

Study Time

Daniel Negreanu has had a pad of paper with him that's had everyone's point total on it and he's been keeping score as the heat progresses. Just recently, Phil Hellmuth borrowed it as did Vanessa Rousso to figure out how they are doing in relation to the rest of the field. This will also help them map out their strategies for the rest of this tournament.

David Benyamine Eliminated in 6th Place ($6,000)

Benyamine securely in second place overall
Benyamine securely in second place overall
David Benyamine moved all in with the {J-Clubs}{9-Spades} for 83,000 and Phil Hellmuth made the call with the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. He had Benyamine dominated, but then Roland De Wolfe moved all in for 287,000 with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and had Hellmuth dominated. This was an extremely important pot for De Wolfe, as he needs to go as deep as possible to try and get to the top eight.

Hellmuth needed an exact count from the dealer and got one before going deeper into the tank. "Roly poly what is it kid?" asked Hellmuth to De Wolfe, trying to get a better read. After another few minutes, he called the clock on himself and began to count the pot out loud. Luke Schwartz was needling him a little bit and Hellmuth asked him if he could stay out of it and let him think. Eventually, he made the fold.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and De Wolfe pushed Benyamine closer to the door with that flop that missed him about as far as it could. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and that was it for Benyamine, he was drawing dead going to the river, which completed the board with the {10-Hearts}.

Benyamine earned three points and moved up to 38 points total. He's guaranteed a spot at the final table and we'll see him back tomorrow. De Wolfe is up to 483,000.

Tony G Eliminated in 7th Place ($4,000)

Tony G's Premier League is done
Tony G's Premier League is done
Phil Hellmuth open-shoved from the small blind to put the pressure on Tony G in the big blind who had only five big blinds left in his stack. He had the {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Tony G made the call with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Hellmuth won the race after hitting the eight on the river. Hellmuth eliminated Tony G in seventh place and he took home two points and $4,000 for his finish. That also looks like it's going to be the end of the PartyPoker Premier League IV for Tony G.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and all three players checked.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and Hellmuth led for 40,000. De Wolfe folded and Negreanu called.

Negreanu Rushing

Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu took a flop with 180,000 chips in the middle and the first three community cards coming out {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Negreanu held the {Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Hellmuth held the {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

Negreanu was first to act and checked. Hellmuth checked behind. The turn was he {5-Hearts} and Negreanu fired 100,000. Hellmuth folded and Negreanu showed the hand to the crowd on the rail only.
