Szecsi Doubles Up to Starting Stack

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Norbert Szecsi was one of the new entries on Day 2 but had trouble spinning up a stack in the early going. Down to around 50,000 to start the hand, Szecsi raised it up from middle position. Peter Weinand defended from the big blind and the flop came {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Weinand check-called a bet from Szecsi and the {2-Clubs} landed on the turn. Weinand checked again and Szecsi pushed all in for 36,000. Weinand thought for over a minute before finally making the call.

Norbert Szecsi: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Peter Weinand: {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Szecsi was in a commanding lead with the better pair and a flush draw. The river brought the {7-Hearts} and Szecsi scored a double up in order to stay alive.

Mandic On a Heater

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Just shortly after busting Sylvain Loosli in a massive flip, Goran Mandic turned his attention to another big name at the table. He was heads-up with Jake Schindler on a flop of {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Mandic check-called a bet of 12,000 from Schindler and the {3-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Mandic led out for 13,500 this time and Schindler raised to 60,000. Mandic still called and the {j-Clubs} paired the board on the river. Mandic shipped all in and Schindler called off his stack of around 115,000. Mandic turned over {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the best hand while Schindler dumped his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} into the muck.

Gross Day for partypoker Member Gross

Level 10 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Things didn't start very well for partypoker Team Online member Jeff Gross. In fact, they barely started at all as Gross showed up at 12 p.m. unaware that the tournament started an hour earlier today. That didn't bode well for his near starting stack that was whittled away from the blinds.

Eventually, Gross did take his seat and pushed all in for around 30,000. He was called by Orpen Kisacikoglu and the cards were tabled. Gross turned over {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Kisacikoglu showed an ace. "Please don't show me aces," Gross pleaded. That was exactly what Kisacikoglu revealed with {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Gross was unable to find any help as he headed for the exit.
