Poker Philanthropist Scott Wellenbach Making Deep Run in the MILLIONS Main Event

Level 25 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante
Scott Wellenbach
Scott Wellenbach

Among the top stacks in the virtual room is Scott Wellenbach, a Buddhist text translator hailing from Halifax, Canada. Wellenbach made headlines at the 2019 PCA where a dream run ultimately came to an end in third place for $671,000. The run was made memorable as Wellenbach vowed beforehand to pledge ALL his poker winnings to charity, something he did earlier back in 2017 after a deep run at the EPT in Barcelona.

Months after his incredible performance, PokerNews' Valerie Cross caught up with Wellenbach in Monte Carlo to learn more about his charitable actions. In 2017, Buddhist nuns in Nepal shared the spoils from his Barcelona run. REG charities like Against Malaria Foundation, Humane Slaughter Association and more notable names such as Oxfam and Doctors Without Borders were among those to receive a boost from the PCA score.

Why give away all the money that he wins in poker? "Because I can," Wellenbach simply said back in 2019. "My needs are taken care of and I've done really well investing over the last number of decades, so I can afford to do it."

To learn more about the poker philanthropist, watch the video with Jeff Platt after his PCA Main Event deep run and check the article for a more in-depth look into the life of the Canadian.

Enselme vs Urbanovich
Enselme vs Urbanovich

Arnaud Enselme moved all-in for the last 2,192,142 from the hijack and forced all but one opponent to fold. Dzmitry Urbanovich in the big blind gave it some consideration and indeed made the call.

Arnaud Enselme: {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Dzmitry Urbanovich: {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Urbanovich gained the lead on the {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and remained there throughout the {q-Spades} turn and {a-Clubs} river. Vitaly Zheleztsov and Jeremy Saderne also departed prior, reducing the field further.

Geci Doubles Through Schindler

Level 26 : 250,000/500,000, 62,500 ante

The roller coaster ride of Endrit Geci has earned yet another chapter as he doubled through Jake Schindler.

It was one of those classic flips with the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the Brit and {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for Schindler.

The board ran out {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Geci held up with his pocket pair.

Ivarsson Loses Lots Against Mikolaitis

Level 26 : 250,000/500,000, 62,500 ante

On a completed board of {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}, Dominyks Mikolaitis checked his option and Alexander Ivarsson bet 6,400,000 into a pot of 11,950,000. Mikolaitis then pulled the trigger and moved all-in, which sent Ivarsson into the tank.

No call followed and the pot was pushed to Mikolaitis.

Nemeth Eliminated by Gelonezi

Level 26 : 250,000/500,000, 62,500 ante
Andras Nemeth
Andras Nemeth

Andras Nemeth raised to 1.1 million and called a three-bet to see the {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, on which he checked. Table neighbor Hermogenes Gelonezi bet 3.25 million and Nemeth made the call.

On the {3-Clubs} turn both players checked and Nemeth bet the {j-Clubs} river for 8.025 million with around 6.1 million behind.

Gelonezi jammed with the superior stack and Nemeth eventually called with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Gelonezi had that beat with the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and sent the dangerous Hungarian to the rail.
