Controversy Over a Raise

Bijan Zahmat bet the turn on a board of {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}. He tossed in one T5,000 chip and announced his bet. According to the fellow Dutch players at the table, Zahmat said 4,800. Kevin Saul was the other player in the hand and thought he heard 2,800 and tossed in three T1,000 chips to call. The floor was called and after some debate on who heard what and what was really said, it was ruled that Zahmat's bet stood at 2,800.

Saul's call was in the pot already and then the river card came the {Q-Clubs}. Both players checked and Zahmat tabled {Q-Spades} {J-Clubs} to win the hand.

Markholt chucked from the bull with aces
From under the gun, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow raised to 1,800. Action folded over to Lee Markholt in the small blind and he reraised to 5,800. Matusow verified how much Markholt was playing, "You playing the same as me? About 50?" He then moved all in and Markholt quickly called.

"You got aces?" asked Matusow.

"Yep," responded Markholt.

Markholt rolled over two black aces and Matusow rolled over {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}.

The board ran out {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {9-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and Matusow smacked a full house on the river.

"Oh! I've never hit a card like that in poker!" exclaimed Matusow as he sprung from his chair when the king spiked on fifth street. After a final count of the chips, Matusow had Markholt covered and jumped up to 115,000.

Aces Good for Khan

Alexandre Gomes raised to 1,050 in the cutoff and Hafiz Khan popped it to 2,400 from the big blind. Gomes called and the flop came down {8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

Khan bet 3,500 and Gomes quickly called, leading to the {Q-Hearts} turn card. Both players checked, delivering the {J-Diamonds} on the river. Khan checked and Gomes took a few moments before betting 5,500. Khan quickly called and turned over {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

Gomes could not beat it and sent his cards to the muck, dropping to 33,000 in the process. Khan moved his stack up to 40,000.

Bonomo Busto

Justin Bonomo bet 2,100 on the flop of {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. Lex Veldhuis raised to 7,000. Bonomo then reraised to 17,500 and Veldhuis stuck out a giant stack of T5,000 chips to put Bonomo all in. He made the call, having already committed himself to the hand.

Veldhuis tabled {10-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} against Bonomo's flush draw holding the {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and the river the {8-Clubs}, but just a pair of eights wasn't going to be enough for Bonomo to beat Veldhuis' trip sevens. Bonomo was sent packing while Veldhuis jumped to 185,000.

Cash or Tourney for Matusow?

On a board of {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {A-Clubs}, there was about 8,000 chips in the middle. Mike "The Mouth" Matusow was facing a bet of 3,800 from his opponent. After taking about a minute to think about things, Matusow said, "I don't mind if I lose this hand," and then made the call.

Both players held {A-?} {10-?} and chopped up the pot.

"If that game wasn't going over there, I'd probably have folded," said Matusow, referring to a juicy cash game going on in the pit.
