Duhamel Doubles Through Busquet

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We caught up with the action on the {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop.

Jonathan Duhamel bet 1,500 and Olivier Busquet popped it to 4,000. A third player in the hand folded and Duhamel called, leading to the {6-Clubs} turn card. Duhamel checked again and Busquet fired 8,300. After a few moments Duhamel called, checking the {J-Diamonds} river card. Busquet announced all in, having Duhamel well covered.

Nearly five minutes passed before Duhamel called all in for 27,775, seeing Busquet table {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. When Duhamel showed {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a set Busquet was visibly upset, clearly feeling Duhamel should have called much sooner with that hand.

Duhamel: Up to about 84,000
Busquet: Down to about 27,000

Battle of Champions

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Two Team PokerStars Pros are at the same table. Although that's not that big of a deal as is the case at many tables in this event, both of that have won the WSOP Main Event. Joe Cada, the 2009 champion, and Jonathan Duhamel, the 2010 champion, are seated at the same table.

Packed House

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

McLean Karr just came rolling into the $25,000 High Roller area and announced that there are 120 players signed up for this event when he just finished registering. That's a big increase from last year's 84-player field and an amazing turnout.

From middle position, Brett Richey raised to 550. Joseph Cheong called from the cutoff seat and John Racener called from the big blind. All three of these players to see this flop cashed in the 2010 WSOP Main Event, with the latter two making the November Nine.

The flop came down {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and action checked around to Cheong. He bet 1,225 and Racener called. Richey folded.

The turn card was the {Q-Spades} and Racener check-folded to a bet of 3,000 fro Cheong.

With the board reading {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}, Shannon Shorr fired 2,575. Lex Veldhuis called and the third player in the hand folded. The river completed the board with the {6-Diamonds} and Shorr tanked for bit before checking. Veldhuis also thought for a bit and then checked behind. Shorr tabled the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and Veldhuis the {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the winner.

On the next hand, Veldhuis was in action against two players on the board of {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. He was first up and fired 400. The next player raised to 1,500 and the third player folded. Veldhuis thought for a few moments and then released his hand, losing this pot.
