Shak's Bluff Picked Off

Dan Shak bet out with the board reading {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, and his opponent called. The turn was the {2-Spades}, and Shak led again - this time for 3,000. His opponent raised to 9,000, and Shak called.

The river was the {k-Spades}, and Shak fired 12,000. His opponent immediately called.

Shak opened up {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a pair of deuces, and his opponent tabled {a-Clubs}{9-Spades} for a pair of nines. Shak, who got off to a great start, is now below the starting stack.

Gross Income

Steve "gboro780" Gross is one happy Giants fan right now. He's spent most of the last couple hours staring up at the television screen on the wall sweating the NFL playoff game, but now that his team has won, it's back to business.

We caught Gross in a hand as we walked by, the board showing {2-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} on the turn. He check-called a bet of 4,750 on the turn, and he and his opponent checked through the {J-Diamonds} river.

Gross announced his, "Tens," and tabling {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs} allowed him to drag the pot and chip his way up to about 47,000.

Greenstein Can't Call

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

Barry Greenstein opened to 525, and an opponent near the button called. The dealer fanned {10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and Greenstein immediately fired 700. His opponent called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs}, and Greenstein slowed down, checking to his opponent who tossed out 2,500. Greenstein called. The {9-Clubs} completed the board, Greenstein checked again, and his opponent bet 6,600. Greenstein quickly mucked, and his stack is now below 20,000 chips.

Mozdzen Can't Beat ElkY

Bertrand Grospellier
Bertrand Grospellier

After a player in middle position raised to 500, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier three-bet to 1,325 from the next seat. The player in the cutoff seat made the call and then action folded to Clayton Mozdzen in the big blind. He called and then the original preflop raiser called.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and everyone checked before the dealer added the {J-Spades} on the turn. Action checked over to Grospellier and he bet 2,250. The cutoff seat, Mozdzen called and the other player folded.

The river was the {7-Spades} and Mozdzen checked. Grospellier bet 4,125 and Mozdzen made the call.

Grospellier tabled the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Mozdzen mucked his hand.

Photographical Double Duty

We've got Neil Stoddart and Joe Giron working overtime in here, and they've just handed us a fresh batch of shots. The third photo is a gent you probably recognize best from his accomplishments off the felt.

Sands' Baby Flush No Good

David "Doc" Sands was down to around half of the starting stack early, but has since doubled back. He dropped the following pot to give away a few thousand chips, but is still on 33,000 and change.

Sands and an opponent saw the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop come out with approximately 5,000 chips in the middle. Both checked and the {8-Hearts} landed on the turn. Sands bet 3,750 and his opponent called. After the {A-Diamonds} landed on the river, both players checked.

Sands turned over the {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for the smallest of all flushes. His opponent held the {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a better flush and won the pot.

Blom Sliding

Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Viktor Blom raised to 500 on the button and was called by the player in the small blind.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and it was checked to Blom who bet 1,000. His opponent popped it to 2,800, Blom called, and the {8-Diamonds} hit the turn. This time the player in the small blind check-called 3,200 from Blom and both checked the {5-Spades} river.

The small blind thought he was beat with {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, but Blom couldn't best the pair of deuces.
