One For Mueller

A middle position player opened to an unknown amount and it folded around to Greg Mueller in the small blind. Mueller made it 9,000 to go and the action folded back to the original raiser who called.

The two took a flop of {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Mueller came out swinging with 11,000. A call prompted the dealer to throw down the {3-Clubs} and this time Mueller made it 17,000. His opponent let go and Mueller dragged it in. He's now sitting on approximately 192,000.

Elias Above 200K

Darren Elias and an opponent were heads up on a board of {8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}. Elias moved all in for what looked like 70,000 into a pot of around 90,000, and his opponent tank-called all-in for less.

Elias rolled over {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}, and his opponent showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The river was a diamond, but the {q-Diamonds} made Elias a full house, eliminating his opponent.

Lobzhanidze Busts Merson

Greg Merson - Eliminated
Greg Merson - Eliminated

Day 1a chip leader Maxim Lobzhanidze has just busted 2012 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Merson. He explained the hand to us via a translation from his brother Andrey Lobzhanidze, who Merson happened to have busted earlier in the day.

According to Lobzhanidze, the chips got into the middle with the board reading {A-}{10-}{4-}{6-} with two spades. Merson was ahead with {A-}{K-} against Lobzhanidze's {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}, but the {2-Spades} river made Lobzhanidze a flush to end Merson's PCA Main Event.

Serock Busts Vedes

From under the gun plus one, Tommy Vedes opened with a raise to 3,600. Action then folded all the way around to Joe Serock in the big blind, and he checked on Vedes' stack before reraising to put him all in. Vedes called it off and tabled the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Unfortunately for Vedes, his hand was dominated by the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for Serock.

The flop was bleak for Vedes when the {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} came out and gave Serock a flush draw to take any some of Vedes' outs. The turn was the {Q-Diamonds}, and that sealed the deal before the river completed the board with the {3-Hearts}.

Vedes was out the door quickly following the hand while Serock climbed to 235,000 in chips.

De Meulder's Stack Grows

Christophe De Meulder was heads up in a raised pot with a single opponent when the flop came {3-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. De Meulder checked and his opponent fired 3,600. A call prompted the {9-Diamonds} to come on fourth street where both players checked their option.

The board completed with the {K-Spades} and De Meulder checked for a third time. His opponent bet 4,500 and De Meulder instantly announced "call". De Meulder was shown the {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} by his opponent but tabled a better hand with his {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for kings and tens. With this pickup, De Meulder now is commanding about 140,000 in chips.

Chartier Nails The Flop And The Double

Ashton Griffin opened for 4,000 from the cutoff only to have Sam Chartier three-bet all in for 27,300 from the button. The player in the big blind then moved all in over the top with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and prompted Griffin to fold. Chartier then tabled {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and was behind.

Luckily for him, the flop hit him hard when it came down {9-Spades}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Neither the {6-Clubs} turn nor {9-Diamonds} river changed a thing and Chartier doubled with a full house.
