Billard Doubles Through Karsten

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

With around 30,000 in the pot and a board reading {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, Manke Karsten bet 10,000 from the small blind only to have Francois Billard move all in for 43,000 from the big. Marsten thought long and hard before calling with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and he looked a bit dejected when Billard rolled over {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for two pair. Marsten was drawing live, but he missed his outs as the harmless {2-Diamonds} peeled off on the river.

With that, Billard is up to 120,000 while Karsten dropped to 50,000.

Grinder Gets a Knockout

Michael Mizrachi Sporting a Big Stack
Michael Mizrachi Sporting a Big Stack

Dylan Linde opened to 2,500 from middle position, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi three-bet to 6,000 from the next seat over in the hijack. It folded back to Linde who four-bet to 11,000 and Mizrachi quickly called.

The dealer fanned out a flop of {5-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{3-Spades}. Linde continued for 12,000 and Grinder wasted no time flat calling. The {10-Diamonds} hit the turn and Linde fired 18,000. Mizrachi instantly dropped in a huge stack of blue t5,000 chips for a bet to put Linde all in.

Linde tanked for about ninety seconds.

"You've still got enough to work with," said Mizrachi with a smile to Linde.

Ultimately thought, Linde opted to call only to find that he was behind.

Mizrachi: {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Linde: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Linde was looking for one of the two remaining queens for make a set or a king or a ten to make a better two pair. The river was the {2-Clubs} and Linde was forced to the rail. Mizrachi, on the other hand, is up to 275,000 in chips.

Bucky Sliding

We arrived at Shawn Buchanan's tabled and found him faced with a decision on a {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board. Buchanan had bet 5,500, but an opponent raised all in for 20,200. After a bit of time in the tank, Buchanan called with what looked to be {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} (one might have been a club). His opponent had him outkicked with {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to win the pot.

Kurganov Caught Bluffing

Igor Kurganov
Igor Kurganov

Igor Kurganov led out for 13,200 on a board of {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. His opponent, Miklos Zsuffa, called.

The river was the {k-Spades}, and Kurganov tossed out 22,000. Zsuffa immediately called. Kurganov turned over {a-Clubs}{4-Spades} for ace-high, and Zsuffa shifted forward in his chair in order to get a good look at Kurganov's hand.

Once he realized that Kurganov had air, Zsuffa turned over {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a flush, and raked in the pot.

Becker & Bazeley Bust But Busquet Burgeoning

Boris Becker
Boris Becker

We noticed that Boris Becker was no longer with us and headed over to Table 18 to find out what happened. According to Olivier Busquet, a player in late position opened with a raise only to have Becker move all in for approximately 7,500 with {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. His opponent called with the lowly {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and ended up taking the lead on the {3-}{K-}{8-} flop, which contained one heart. Becker picked up a flush draw on the {5-Hearts} turn, but missed it as the river blanked.

Meanwhile, Busquet ended up picking up a big pot to eliminate Jacob Bazeley while we were nearby. A preflop raising war resulted in all the chips getting into the pot with the latter being all in for right around 80,000 with {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. He was racing against the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} of Busquet, but not after the flop fell {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{K-Spades}. Busquet hit it hard by making two pair, and Bazeley was up out of his seat in preparation for a quick exit.

The {9-Hearts} turn brought him one step closer to the door, while the {8-Spades} river sent him out it. "Good luck, guys," Bazeley offered before taking his leave.

Trips Secure A Double For Ramdin

Catching up on the flop of {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, a player in the blinds led out for 3,000. Guy Cruickshanks called from the next seat over moving action along Victor Ramdin. Ramdin reached into his stack and came out with a raise to 9,500. The original bettor folded and Cruickshanks called.

The {3-Hearts} hit the turn and Cruickshanks checked. Ramdin moved out a sizable bet. Almost instantly Cruickshanks announced that he was all in and Ramdin snapped him off just as quick. Just like that Ramdin was all in for his last 39,100.

Ramdin: {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Cruickshanks: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Ramdin would just have to fade a five going to the river and he did exactly that as the {7-Spades} dropped down on the felt. With this pickup, Ramdin is now sitting on about 110,000.

Table 3 Update: Grafton Doubles Through Bonomo

Table 3 is quite stacked to say the least, and we just saw a big pot take place that resulted in Sam Grafton doubling through Justin Bonomo.

We're not sure of the action, but we do know Grafton, who won the 2012 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour - Grand Final for €102,700 back in November, held {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} on a board reading {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-}{J-Hearts}. Meanwhile, Bonomo had {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} laid out in front of him. We're not sure if the money went in preflop or on the flop, but the result is the same.

Vincent van der Fluit is the 1,700th-Best Player in the World

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Vincent Van Der Fluit - the 1,700th-best player in the world
Vincent Van Der Fluit - the 1,700th-best player in the world

There was an open seat at Table 44 minutes ago, and to help pass the time, Jon Aguiar, Liv Boeree, and David "Doc" Sands decided to play a little game.

Aguiar and Sands played "Rock, Paper, Scissor," and the winner got to set a line which represented the skill level of the next player to sit down in the empty seat. The "line" would represent the player's ranking in the world at no-limit hold'em. Once the new player sat down, Boeree was allowed to watch them play two hands, then she would determine their ranking.

Aguiar won "Rock, Paper, Scissor," and set the line at 350. Sands took the over, meaning that he had the 350th-best player in the world and up, and Aguiar had the under.

Eventually, Vincent van der Fluit sat down, and after two hands, Boeree determined that he was the 1,700th-best player in the world. Aguiar was appalled.

Boeree didn't know who van der Fluit was.

"He won a bracelet," Sands said as Boeree was laughing, embarrassed.

"Well," Aguiar, a newly crowned bracelet winner, interjected. "Anyone can win a bracelet."

"Don't worry," Sands told van der Fluit. "At least you're ranked among the top 2,000 players."

According to the Global Poker Index, van der Fluit is ranked 334 in the world (what a great line by Aguiar). The Dutchman has over $500,000 in career live tournament earnings, including the $265,211 he pocketed for winning Event #11 of the 2012 World Series of Poker.
