Katz; Sontheimer and Aldemir Vanish

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Steffen Sontheimer
Steffen Sontheimer

Cary Katz has been eliminated by Jean-Noel Thorel and two further players busted shortly after including Steffen Sontheimer and Koray Aldemir. The latter ran with pocket queens into the pocket aces of Henrik Hecklen, while Sontheimer was ousted in two consecutive hands.

Katz three-bet an open-raise of Steve O'Dwyer to 23,000 from the button and Thorel called from the big blind. O'Dwyer made it three ways to the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop. Once the action folded to Katz, he bet 40,000 and Thorel raised to 80,000, O'Dwyer got out of the way. One time bank was used by Katz before he moved all in and Thorel called in a heartbeat.

Cary Katz: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Jean-Noel Thorel: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The board completed with the {9-Hearts} turn and {2-Diamonds} river, ending Katz's run on the first bullet.

Sontheimer raised the cutoff to 7,000 and Chris Hunichen three-bet to 24,000 out of the button, which Sontheimer called. On the {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, Sontheimer checked and called a bet of 20,000 before the {9-Clubs} on the turn was checked through. Sonthemier then bet the {8-Diamonds} river for 78,000 with 500 behind.

After some consideration, Hunichen called and was shown the {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs} by Sontheimer, which he had beat with {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a set.

Sontheimer was all in for the one chip the next hand in the hijack and Byron Kaverman raised the button to 8,000, Mustapha Kanit called in the big blind. On the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, another 6,000 each went into the pot and the {10-Diamonds} turn was checked through. Kanit check-called 12,000 on the {6-Diamonds} river and mucked when Kaverman showed {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for a flush with the nine.

"I have king nine, no idea if it's a diamond," Sontheimer shrugged and rolled over {K-Spades}{9-Hearts} before heading out of the tournament area.

Jensen Coming Back

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The board read {4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Patrik Antonius had bet 37,000 from the big blind. Gregory Jensen was contemplating his options on the button and then decided to make the call.

The river completed the board with the {4-Hearts} and now Antonius checked. Jensen played around with his chips and then bet 30,000. Antonius looked at the cards in the middle, glimpsed at Jensen, and then made the call but mucked when Jensen showed {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the rivered full house.

Katz Loses Some to O'Dwyer

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Cary Katz limped in from under the gun, so did Jean-Noel Thorel in the cutoff and Rainer Kempe in the small blind. Steve O'Dywer raised to 22,000 in the big blind and Katz responded with a three-bet to 60,000. Thorel and Kempe snap-folded while O'Dwyer made the call.

They both checked through the {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop and the {7-Hearts} on the turn to the {7-Clubs} on the river. O'Dwyer bet 75,000 and Katz folded almost immediately.

A Double for Negreanu

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Down to his last 53,500, Daniel Negreanu moved all in from middle position and was called by Koray Aldemir in the big blind.

Daniel Negreanu: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Koray Aldemir: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

The {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop gave Negreanu top pair, while Aldemir picked up a gutshot to go with his two overcards. Neither the {3-Spades} turn nor the {9-Spades} river changed anything and Negreanu doubled.

Bonomo Four-Bets

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Andras Nemeth and Christoph Vogelsang three-bet all in with their short stacks and forced folds from Luc Greenwood and Dan Shak respectively.

Other shorter stacks belong to Seth Davies and Benjamin Pollak, with the latter just three-bet folding to the aggression of Justin Bonomo. Adrian Mateos had opened to 6,500 for the second hand in a row and Pollak from one seat over reraised to 20,000. Bonomo four-bet to 46,000 and everyone got out of the way.

Greenwood Takes From Shakerchi

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The rise of Sam Greenwood continues as he just won another pot to climb further up the leader board. Greenwood opened to 6,500 in the cutoff and Talal Shakerchi on the button three-bet to 19,000, Greenwood called.

After the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, Greenwood check-called a bet of 14,000 and did so again for 46,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn. The {2-Diamonds} on the river shut down the action and both players checked. Greenwood was first to show and tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a pair of kings, Shakerchi mucked and tapped the table.

Soyza Doubles Through Peters

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

David Peters raised to 6,000 from the hijack and Michael Soyza shoved for his last 44,500 from the cutoff. Action folded back to Peters who made the call.

Michael Soyza: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
David Peters: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs} for Peters' pocket pair to get counterfeited on the river so Soyza would double up.

Foxen Under Pressure by Eibinger

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Just before the blinds had gone up, Matthias Eibinger and Alex Foxen on his second entry were involved a pot that saw Eibinger check-call a bet of 16,500 by Foxen in the cutoff with the board showing {9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Eibinger also checked the {7-Hearts} on the river and Foxen made it 22,000 to go.

Eibinger used one of his time bank extensions before sliding forward a check-raise to 325,000, and Foxen needed one time bank himself before giving up the hand.

Cada Eliminated by Kurganov

Level 5 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Igor Kurganov
Igor Kurganov

Joe Cada had just doubled up through Mikita Badziakouski when Cada held {a-}{k-} and Badziakouski had {q-}{q-}. The board ran out {3-}{3-}{3-}{3-}{x-} to give Cada the win with the ace-kicker in his hand

Unfortunately for him, he couldn't hold on to those chips for a bit longer.

Cada raised to 6,000 from the cutoff and Igor Kurganov three-bet to 21,000 on the button. Action folded back to Cada who four-bet to 59,000. Kurganov responded with a five-bet to 100,000 and Cada shoved for almost 300,000. Kurganov snap-called.

Joe Cada: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Igor Kurganov: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for Kurganov to flop a set of kings immediately to send Cada to the rail.
