PN Podcast: Postle Back in Poker & Guest Mori Eskandani Shares Mirage Stories

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
PN Pod Mori Eskandani
PN Pod Mori Eskandani

In the latest PokerNews Podcast episode of 2023, Chad Holloway and Connor Richards handle things while Jesse Fullen is in Australia. They discuss Mike Postle’s sudden reappearance in the poker world after making a final table at the Million Dollar Heater at Beau Rivage in Mississippi, while also talking about the slowroll and needle that accompanied his bust out.

They try to balance that story with a heart-warming one where Johnnie “Johnnie Vibes” Moreno put a bartender into the MSPT Sycuan Main Event, with the recreational player going on to finish in fourth place for $40,000!

Other stories discussed include WSOP.com Player of the Years, Lon McEachern and Daniel Lowery winning WSOP Circuit gold rings, and early winners from the PokerGO Cup.

Speaking of which, PokerGO’s Mori Eskandani joins the show as this week’s guest. The Poker Hall of Famer talks 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) preparations, who came close to challenging Jason Koon on High Stakes Duel III (HSD), plus when we can expect the next HSD match to take place. He also discussed new developments to this year’s PokerGO Tour (PGT) and shared memories from the days when the Mirage was the hot spot for poker in Vegas.

Haxton Eliminated, Rashid Soars to Big Stack

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Joining the action in a battle of the blinds between Isaac Haxton and Samad Rashid on a {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop, it was Haxton who opted to check. Rashid bet 4,000 into 9,000 and Haxton then check-raised to 15,500.

While Rashid grabbed potential calling chips and pondered about his move, he accidentally hit a portion of his large tower of chips and a few of the T-100 denominations fell over to the front. Rashid then grabbed into his bigger chips and made it 40,500 to go.

Haxton had around 50,000 total at his disposal and moved all in a couple of seconds later for Rashid to snap-call.

Isaac Haxton: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Samad Rashid: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

The $100,000 Super High Roller champion was on thin ice and found no escape on the {3-Diamonds} turn or {5-Clubs} river, as Rashid dragged in a very healthy pot and became one of the biggest stacks in the room.

No Royal for Eychenne

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Thomas Eychenne opened to 2,000 from under the gun and then on his direct left, Christopher Puetz three-bet to 5,500. Action folded back to Eychenne and he called.

Eychenne check-called bets of 3,500 and 8,700 on the flop and turn for the final board to show {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Both players checked the river through to showdown.

Eychenne had the {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for queen-high, despite flopping a Royal Flush draw. Puetz had the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for trips and collected the pot.

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Joey Weissman opened to 2,100 from the button and was called by Cristian Nagaki from the big blind.

Nagaki had the {a-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Weissman mucked upon seeing his opponent's hand.

Watson Folds to Quoss' Aggression

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With a bet and call worth 5,600 already pulled in prior to the {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} river, Mike Watson then bet 9,000 from under the gun with slightly more than that behind. Fabian Quoss in the cutoff raised to 50,000, holding the far covering stack.

Watson went into the tank for more than three minutes and sigh-folded.

Konya Doubles Through Gong

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Tamas Konya was all in for the last 20,000 on the heads-up turn of {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Joachen Gong looked him up with the covering stack.

Konya, in the big blind, revealed the {a-Spades}{6-Spades} and Gong had some outs with {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for an overpair and flush draw. However, the {a-Hearts} river only improved Konya to a full house and he thanked the dealer immediately.

Galland Eliminated by Csik

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Benoit Galland got his short stack into the middle before the flop and was looked up by Christoph Csik, who held the far superior stack.

Benoit Galland: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Christoph Csik: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The overcards remained with some equity on the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop and the {7-Spades} turn. However, no help came on the {j-Clubs} river and the pocket pair of Csik was good enough to deal the final blow.

Aido Downs Lococo and Doubles Through Paur

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

Taylor Paur opened to 2,200 from the hijack before Alejandro Lococo jammed for 6,400 from the button. Sergio Aido then four-bet to 10,800 from the big blind. Paur responded with another raise and made it 19,500 to go, which Aido called.

The {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop checked through to the {4-Diamonds} turn. Aido bet 25,000, leaving 14,200 behind. Paur, the bigger stack, then put Aido all in and was snap-called.

Alejandro Lococo: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Sergio Aido: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Taylor Paur: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Each player paired their ace, but Aido was ahead as he paired his jack as well for aces and jacks. The {4-Clubs} completed the board and Aido scooped in the massive pot while sending Lococo to the rail.
