Weidner Beats Wheeler With Ace-King High

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Marco Weidner
Marco Weidner

In a pot of around 6,500 to the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Marco Weidner checked and then called a bet worth 3,000 by Jason Wheeler in the cutoff. The {5-Hearts} turn and {6-Diamonds} river were both checked and Weidner revealed the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Wheeler double-checked his cards and tossed them into the muck much to the delight of Weidner.

"Ah, now you are fist-pumping," table neighbour Anton Wigg said with a big smile on the face.

Top 5 Poker Movies You Must Watch

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Over the past century, poker has permeated pop culture, especially when it comes to motion pictures. Long before the “Poker Boom”, and even before the World Series of Poker (WSOP) was a thing, poker had already made its big screen debut.

Over the decades, poker fans have been treated to a plethora of poker movies, some good and others not so much. Some well-received poker films include the western comedy Maverick (1994), Survivor host Jeff Probst’s debut film Finder’s Fee (2001), the improv-inspired The Grand (2007), indie comedy darling Hitting the Nuts (2010), and the high-profile Hollywood flick Molly’s Game (2017).

All of those are among the best poker movies of all time, and if this article was “Top 10” instead of “Top 5 Poker Movies,” chances are they’d make the final list. However, the PokerNews crew got together, along with input from social media, to determine the top five must-watch poker movies of all time.

Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

Heads-up to the {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, Ryan Riess checked and Ren Lin bet 4,500 on the button. As Riess was in a brief tank, Lin joked "don't slow play aces". A few seconds later, Riess jammed for 13,300 and Lin snap-called.

"Beach time," Philipp Gruissem instantly remarked before the cards were revealed.

Ryan Riess: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Ren Lin: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

"Ah, Lady Gaga," Lin now chimed in and was asking for a jack. However, the {8-Diamonds} turn and {q-Hearts} river only improved Riess as he doubled back above the starting stack.

Rheem and Hudon Battle Preflop; Sparks Fail to Ignite

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

There was a raise preflop on Table 23 before Chino Rheem reraised to 1,600 on the button. Eliot Hudon made it 4,600 to go from the small blind and action folded back to the defending champion.

Rheem quickly five-bet to 11,600 and Hudon went into the tank. The latter eventually let his hand go and the duo exchanged words to try and figure what hands they had.

Hudon remarked he may have folded ace-king and Rheem responded by saying he had two black cards which were the same.

"You had aces?" asked Hudon but Rheem declined to answer.

Kolev Beats Gomez Zapatero in Showdown

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Three ways to the {j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop with plenty of chips in the middle already, Javier Gomez Zapatero bet 4,000 and was called only by Boris Kolev while Michael Rocco folded.

The {10-Clubs} followed on the turn and the Spaniard bet 6,500 for Kolev to call. Both then checked the {6-Diamonds} river and Gomez Zapatero revealed the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}, which Kolev had beat holding the {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

Rocco then joked he had folded a pocket pair, indicating that had been pocket nines.
