Stack Check

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Late registration is open until the end of level 10 and there are currently 15 out of 22 entrants still in the runnings. Here's how the 15 remaining players are stacking up:

Welcome to the table Mr Martins…

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Antonio Martins
Antonio Martins

The total number of entrants has climbed to 22 with the late arrival of Portugal’s Antonio Martins, though the number of tables has shrunk from three to two as just 16 of these players remain in the running.

However, with the format offering unlimited Day 1 re-entries there is nothing, aside from bankroll management concerns, to stop any of the bust outs from giving it a second go.

Martins wasted no time getting into the swing of things, becoming involved in a multi-way pot not long after taking his seat. It was Germany’s Kilian Loeffler who was the initial aggressor in this particular hand, making it 900 to go from under-the-gun plus one and receiving zero respect for his early position raise with Yue Feng (button), Thin Tin Duong (small blind) and Martins (big blind) all making the call to take the action four-way to a flop of {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

No one fancied the flop and the action was checked around, with Martins opening for 1,400 on the {10-Hearts} turn.
Loeffler made the call and both Feng and Duong bowed out to take the action heads-up to the {q-Clubs} river.

The arrival of paint did not slow Martins and he fired for 1,900, only to see Loeffler quickly re-raise to 7,000 in total. This sent the Portuguese player into the think tank for a good few minutes, before he grudgingly slid in the call.

Loeffler rolled over {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered two-pair, but this was not enough to best Martins’ {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} rivered straight and he scooped the pot to climb to 27,500 while Loeffler dropped to 6,500.

Some Enter, Some Leave

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

The arrival of China’s Yao Jin Chen has brought the number of runners up to 21, spread over three tables, though there has been a quick burst of action and Xiao Ming Liang and Adrian Yang have departed in a flurry of cards and chips.
Neither seemed keen to re-enter, at least not today and Liang has jumped into the HK$12,000 $1M GTD while Yang quickly headed for the exit.

Chen on the other hand, seemed keen to jump right into the action and after Cheng Dong made it 700 to go from middle position Chen made the call from the big blind and it was heads-up to a flop of {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

This brought checks from both players and the dealer burned and turned the {7-Hearts}. After Chen checked for the second time Dong led out for 800 and that was enough to get it done.

Break Time and Notable Stacks

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The arrival of the Netherland’s Bos Wim and the re-entry of Taiwan’s Chi Jen Chen has brought the total number of entrants up to 20, and the players are on their first 10-minute break of the day.

The man currently leading the charge appears to be Ireland’s Oliver Cartwright and we arrived in time to see him make a call on the river against Germany’s Kilian Loeffler to edge into the chip lead.

With the board reading {10-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Diamonds} Loeffler had led the river for close to a half pot-sized bet of 3,500 from the big blind and Cartwright made the call from the button.

Loeffler rolled over {k-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a pair of tens but found out the bad news – Cartwright, holding {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} had caught the queen on the river to take the hand and climb to 31,000 while Loeffler dropped to 9,950.

Feng Wins One; Liang Applies Pre-flop Pressure

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The first break of the day is fast approaching, but the action is heating up rather than slowing down as the players settle in for the long haul.

Kaiyuan Zhan kick-started the action in this particular hand, limping from under-the-gun before Germany’s Kilian Loeffler, sitting in middle position, juiced it up to 700.

Action folded around to Yue Feng (button) who shot the Germany a suspicious stare and reached for chips. They were not for calling with and Feng fired for 2,100.

Zhan flirted with the idea of calling but eventually thought better of it and threw his hand away and Loeffler made the call to take the action heads-up to the {3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop.

Loeffler checked, Feng barreled for 3,500 and that was enough to take it down. Feng climbed to just over 27,000 after the hand and Loeffler now had 16,000.

Tablemate Xiao Ming Liang looked keen to get into the action the following hand and after a pre-flop open to 500 from middle position Liang ripped in the lot, shoving for close to 12,000. Liang’s opponent chuckled and mucked and Liang flashed him {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and seemed disappointed to not find a customer.
