Loads o' Action

Stud Hi/Lo:

Kosta Varoxis and George Cotaidis were both all in on third street, and they got mixed up in big multi-way action. Heath Chick, Karsten Kobbing, and Karib Karib were also involved, and all five men stayed in all the way to seventh street. Heath Chick ended up all in on fifth street as well. When the betting was complete, all of the hands were turned over:

Kobbing: ({Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}) {7-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {6-Clubs} ({A-Clubs})
Varoxis: (X-X) {J-Spades} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs} (X)
Chick: ({A-Spades} {6-Hearts}) {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} ({5-Hearts})
Cotaidis: ({K-Clubs} {A-Hearts}) {3-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {10-Hearts} ({3-Spades})
Karib: ({K-Spades} {7-Spades}) {5-Clubs} {10-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} ({4-Spades})

Kobbing takes the high half with his two pair, queens over jacks. Chick grabs the low half with a nice seventh street, making his sixty-five low. Failing to grab any of the pot, both Kosta Varoxis and George Cotaidis are sent to the rail.

Croc Turns the Nuts on Hachem

Hold'em:

Billy 'The Croc' Argyros opened with a raise to 1,600 from under the gun and Joe Hachem called from the button.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} and Argyros made a continuation bet of 800. Hachem then raised to 1,600 and The Croc made the call.

The {K-Diamonds} was the next card off the deck and Argyros moved all in for his last 1,475. Hachem made the call and tabled {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} for top two pair, but Argyros' {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} was miles ahead. A blank on the river -- the {9-Hearts} -- locked up the hand for Argyros who moved to 10,000 in chips with the win.

Hachem, left with 9,000 in chips, said after the hand, "How good do I run? You call the raise just like that."

Jenny Son Eliminated

Hold'em:

One a flop of {10-Hearts} {9-Spades} {8-Spades}, Jenny Son checked over to Jeffrey Haas. Haas bet and then Son check-raised. Haas called. The turn was the {A-Clubs} and Son bet her last 900.

"Ahhh, I think I have to call you... just for value," complained Haas. "I guess I'll try and suck out on you on the river."

Haas turned up {K-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} and Son held {10-Spades} {4-Spades}.

The river nailed the inside straight draw for Haas with the {Q-Hearts} hitting the felt. Son stood up, said her goodbyes, and wished her table goodluck for the rest of the tournament as she exited. Haas is up to 12,000 chips now.

A Pensive Fold

Stud Hi/Lo:

An unknown player brings the action in, and Brian Hull completes for 800. Martin Harvey and the bring-in both make the call.

Bring-in: (X-X) {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades}
Hull: (X-X) {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}
Harvey: (X-X) {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts}

On fourth street, Hull leads out with a bet, sending Harvey deep into the tank. He ended up calling the clock on himself as he debated his decision. Finally, he lets his hand go, as does the bring-in, and Hull shows his down cards: {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. Harvey opens up his hand as well; his down cards were {2-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, and he takes down the pot with no further action.

Putt-ing His Way Up the Board

Putt Bids His Man Farewell
Putt Bids His Man Farewell
Stud:

Graeme Putt has just eliminated another player from the field in true come-from-behind fashion.

His opponent got the money in early, and his cards came {A-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {6-Spades}, giving him two pair. Putt rallied to win the hand though, as his board ran {10-Spades} {5-Spades} {7-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts}. With plenty of outs materializing through the course of the hand, Putt finds a straight and sends his man to the rail.

Last Woman Standing

Jenny Son
Jenny Son
With 56 players remaining in Event #4, there is just one woman left to fight for the title. That woman is local star Hyo "Jenny" Son. She is sitting with 5,200 in chips and hopes to make a strong showing for the Aussies and her fellow women of poker here at the PokerNews Cup.
