Hinrichsen Busts

Andrew Hinrichsen
Andrew Hinrichsen
Andrew Hinrichsen is the latest casualty from today's event after he pushed a little too hard preflop with {A-Spades}{9-Hearts} to run into the {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Joe Cabret.

Hinrichsen couldn't find an ace on the {4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} board and was sent to the rail as Cabret is now up to 390,000 chips.

Bruce Almighty, Majeed Mauled

We caught the action on a flop that read {Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades} between Dhiya Majeed and Bruce Nguyen; Majeed check-raised all in over Nguyen's bet of 25,000 but Nguyen stood up and made the call.

Nguyen: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Majeed: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The turn produced the {K-Spades} to give Majeed a few more outs, but the river {Q-Spades} gave him trips - only problem was, Nguyen had the bigger kicker.

Majeed is busto and Nguyen continues his charge, now sitting on 430,000 in chips.

Levy Doubles Through

Levy: bigger stack, better photo
Levy: bigger stack, better photo
PokerNews reporter James Bernard could have written down this hand for us, but we reckon it's best to let him be as the on-duty staff managed to catch a hand on his table between Grant Levy and Ben Savage.

Levy moved all in for 25,500 and Savage made the call as the others got out of the way.

Levy: {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Savage: {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop and turn of {3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{Q-Spades} produced a bit of a sweat, adding a few extra outs to a straight for Savage's hand.

However a harmless {5-Clubs} came down on the river to see Levy double up to 57,000; Savage takes a hit and is down to 71,000 in chips.

Prifti Charges Up

Prifti: stacked to the max
Prifti: stacked to the max
Angelo Prifti has just come over to confirm whether or not he is currently the overall chipleader in this tournament.

The answer is yes - he's now sitting on top of the counts with 330,000 after taking down a monster.

Prifti raised it up to 7,000 before the flop, only to find Manny Stavropoulos and two other opponents come along to see a flop of {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Prifti fired out 35,000, Stavropoulos folded and the middle position player moved all in over the top. The late position player got out of the way and Prifti made the call.

Prifti: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

No help came on the turn with the {5-Spades} and would be no suckout as the river bricked with the {9-Spades}, sending the opponent to the rail.

Tahtouh Trips Nguyen

Emad Tahtouh

Catching the action on the turn on a board of {8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Minh Nguyen fired out 14,500 and Emad Tahtouh made the call to see the {6-Diamonds} hit the river.

Nguyen checked and then called Tahtouh's river bet of 26,000 only to muck when Tahtouh flipped {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for trip sixes.

It's been a rough few minutes for Nguyen as he's down to 174,000 with Tahtouh up to 390,000 to be amongst the chip leaders.

Double For Leibold

Imre Leibold Doubles Up
Imre Leibold Doubles Up
Our Estonian friend and Carbon Poker qualifier Imre Leibold has just found a fortunate double up against Minh Nguyen.

The chips were in on the turn on a board of {7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} with Leibold calling for his tournament life with {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for two pair with a flush draw, but Nguyen held {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for trip nines.

However the river was the {4-Clubs} giving Leibold the flush and the double up to 96,000 and Nguyen falls to 222,000.

Gribben Gone

Gribben: KO'ed
Gribben: KO'ed
Joel Gribben's backers are crying poor after he was eliminated at the hands of an unknown opponent on table 33.

The opponent raised it up to 7,500 preflop from early position and the action folded around to Gribben who reraised all in for 22,000 from the cutoff. The opponent called and the cards were rolled up:

Gribben: {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

The flop of {3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{J-Hearts} put Gribben in the lead with bottom-top but his mood turned sour when the dealer produced the {4-Spades} on the turn to fill the opponent's straight!

By the time the {7-Hearts} came down on the river, Gribben was out the door.

Nassif Doubles With Kings

Daniel Neilson opened to 7,500 before Marwan Nassif re-raised all in over the top for his last chips. Neilson made the call.

Neilson: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Nassif: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

Neilson picked up a few more outs on the {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop with a wheel draw, but it wasn't to be on the {7-Spades} turn and {2-Spades} river. Nassif doubles to 80,000 as Neilson slips back to 125,000.
