Get Ready For the PokerNews Cup Main Event Day 2

In just half and hour, action will resume in the PokerNews Cup Main Event, as the 190 players out of the 820 entrants participating in the first four flights are getting ready for battle for a piece of the €200,000 prize pool.

A little less than half the field - or 79 players - will cash in the tournament for at least €660. However, players have their eye on the huge top prize of €37,229 that will be awarded at the end of Day 3 to the winner.

Currently it is Day 1A chip leader Rytas Staniukynas from Lithuania sitting on top of the field with a healthy 446,000 chip stack with blinds set to resume at 3,000/6,000. Not too far behind him is Germany's Jens Dengler (second place - 412,000 chips), Lithuania's Tomas Steponkus (third place - 339,500 chips), Germany's Benoit Kuhn (fourth place - 325,500 chips), and Poland's Marek Bartoszewicz (fifth place - 305,000 chips).

According to the big board, the average chip stack is currently at 129,473 chips, representing about 21.5 big blinds. Even though there are many short-stacks in play, there is plenty of time for players to get in the mix as blind levels are 45 minutes for Day 2 as compared to the 30 minute levels present in the first three opening flights and the 15 minute levels featured in last turbo opening flight late yesterday. Also, tables will featured eight-handed play, or one player less per table than entrants played on during the opening flights.

Stay tuned to our live reporting here at PokerNews for updates throughout the day.
