No Pair, No Problem

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Marti Roca de Torres opened for 1,400 in the hijack. Georgios Zisimopoulos made it 4,300 on the button and Serhii Popovych called in the small blind after some thought. Roca de Torres exited the hand and the flop came {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Popovych check-called 4,000 and both the {9-Spades} and {4-Clubs} got checked through. Popovych opened {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and the nut no-pair was good.

Asjoe Jams Into Zeiter

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

With plenty of chips already in the middle and the turn reading {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Zico Tjin-Asjoe checked and called a bet of 9,400 by Diego Zeiter before the {5-Hearts} on the river completed a possible back door flush. Tijn-Asjoe bet 35,000, which had the remaining stack of Zeiter covered, and the Swiss sent his cards into the muck.

Without showdown, Tijn-Asjoe bumped his stack to six digits and sits comfortably above the average.

Three Super High Rollers at One Table

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Considering there are 100 players still battling in Day 1a, it's rather poor luck for a super high roller reg to get sat with two of his brethren, but that's exactly what's happening for Stephen Chidwick, Dietrich Fast and Timothy Adams. All three are gathered at the same table, one that's eight-handed no less, making it quite the meat grinder.

Two of those players just clashed in a minor hand that saw Chidwick open for a raise in middle position and Adams defend the big blind. Adams check-called 1,300 on the {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop and both checked the {3-Clubs}. Chidwick bet 6,500 on the {k-Diamonds} river and Adams thought a bit and mucked, knuckling the table in submission.

Wirth Back to Starting Stack

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

At the end of the previous level, Jan Bednar raised to 1,500 and Jerry Odeen three-bet to 4,600 from one seat over. Short stack Robert Wirth moved in for the last 13,900 on the button and run-away chip leader Michal Mrakes folded in the small blind. Bednar folded as well, while Odeen asked for a count and called it off.

Robert Wirth: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
Jerry Odeen: {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The board of {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} was not without a sweat for Wirth, but he eventually doubled back to starting stack.

Juanda Jams Into Daher

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

A squeeze to 6,600 was in front of Albert Daher in the big blind and John Juanda on the button was all in from the button for just shy of 40,000. The raising chips were pulled in already and just Daher was to act, while the player in the nine seat called the clock on him.

Daher was not amused about that at all, mentioning that the "slowest player at the table that takes two minutes for each decision calls the clock." There would be no showdown as Daher mucked, and Juanda bumped up his stack slightly.

Jozonis Takes from Bekbayev

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Initial raiser Koray Aldemir from under the gun received two callers in Askar Bekbayev and Tomas Jozonis out of the big blind. On a flop of {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}, Jozonis checked and so did Aldemir. Bekbayev bet 2,000 and Jozonis check-raised to 6,400, forcing out Aldemir and picking up a call by Bekbayev.

Jozonis led the {4-Spades} turn for 8,500 and was called before both players checked the {5-Spades} on the river. Jozonis showed {7-Spades}{6-Spades} for a flush and Bekbayev mucked.
