Jean Koja Eliminated

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Jean Koja got his last chips in from the hijack and found an opponent in small blind Nick Petrangelo. Petrangelo, probably the biggest stack in the room already, had a massive hand with {A-Spades}{K-Spades}. Koja had to do with {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Koja was heading for the rail.

With his departure, the tournament is now on the official bubble as just 144 players remain.

No Money for Alkalay

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Vicente Delgado raised to 7,000, Adi Alkalay went all in for 24,500 and Delgado called off the few extra chips.

Adi Alkalay: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Vicente Delgado: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

"I cannot fold this one," smiled Alkalay, who was facing possible elimination just before the money.

The flop brought help for Delgado, who took the lead on a {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop.

"One time," begged Alkalay, loudly cheered on by his table mate Iliodoros Kamatakis.

The {8-Spades} on the turn gave Alkalay additional outs with the spade draw, which was met by a loud "oooooh" from Kamatakis.

The {10-Hearts} on the river wasn't the help Alkalay needed and he went home empty-handed.

Baltazar and Delgado Double Through Kamatakis

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Isabel Baltazar raised to 10,000 and Iliodoros Kamatakis three-bet from the button before Baltazar then shoved for 61,100. Kamatakis called and Baltazar turned over aces, but would still have a big sweat close to the money.

Isabel Baltazar: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Iliodoros Kamatakis: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The board came {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Baltazar dodged the flush draw to double.

Only one hand later, Kamatakis in the cutoff and Vicente Delgado in the big blind got into a big raising war and it was Delgado that ended up at risk for massive 139,600.

Iliodoros Kamatakis: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Vicente Delgado: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The board came {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and Kamatakis took an even bigger hit to the stack.

Siddique Wins a Flip

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Usman Siddique got his last 46,400 in with the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Jean Koja had the superior stack and a flip with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The board came {A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Siddique doubled.

Less fortunate were the likes of Robert Haigh, Isaac Haxton, Matthew Hopkins and Levan Karamanishvili. The former two were gone for some time, while the latter two just ran out of chips recently. There are 147 players remaining, and the money bubble is looming with 143 players remaining.

Pankowski Deals a Huge Blow to Istomin

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With the bubble looming, a four-way action flop featuring Robert Pankowski and Aleksei Istomin resulted in the latter being left short on the bubble.

It was Hossein Ensan who opened the action on the {8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop with a bet of 9,600. The player to his left folded, Istomin called but Pankowski had different plans. He raised all in for 72,100, putting both opponents to the test.

Ensan got out of the way but Istomin called it off to put Pankowski at risk.

Robert Pankowski: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Aleksei Istomin: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

Pankowski was a mathematical underdog against Istomin's flush outs and overcards, but his pocket nines held up after the {2-Spades} turn and {2-Clubs} river.

Palumbo Makes a Big Call to Double

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Action folded to Rocco Palumbo in the small blind and he raised to 6,200. Big blind Bart Lybaert called to see a flop in position.

Palumbo bet 6,000 on {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{A-Hearts} and Lybaert called. Palumbo then checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn, and called Lybaert's 11,500-bet.

The {9-Spades} river saw Palumbo check. Lybaert shoved all in to put Palumbo to the test for his last 37,400 in chips. Palumbo tanked long and hard and eventually called.

Lybaert showed {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for the nut low, the pot went to Palumbo who tabled {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for third-pair.

Lybaert never recovered from that blow, he busted not much later with {K-}{Q-} up against {A-}{K-}.

Tondeur Tangles with Aido; Ensan With Pankowski

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Close to the money, the action is getting tense, but some players are willing to risk their entire stack on a flip.

Roger Tondeur was among them, and four-bet shoved for 110,100 with the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Sergio Aido took the flip with ace-king. The board came {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} and the nines held up.

Soon after, Hossein Ensan and Robert Pankowski were at it one table over and Ensan was the one at risk.

Robert Pankowski: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Hossein Ensan: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The board came {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Ensan held up.

Pre-Bubble Pressure

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

In a three-bet pot between Igor Yaroshevskyy and Nick Petrangelo, the former check-called a bet on the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{10-Spades} flop and check-called the {3-Spades} turn for another 28,000. The {K-Diamonds} river completed the board and Yaroshevskyy checked again. Petrangelo now fired 85,000 and that ultimately forced a fold.

One table over, Hossein Ensan check-shoved a flop of {J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} from 15,000 to 72,500 and Jason Wheeler on the button eventually folded. The bubble is not too far away, and plenty of players are taking advantage of it.

Walid Bou Habib has been a regular on the European Poker Tour with many cashes and a total of $1.5M in earnings, with a second place finish as best result at the EPT9 Deauville. Remi Castaignon won that won, while Bou Habib will have to wait for a first score in the PokerStars Championship.

Down to 10 big blinds, the player from Lebanon shoved from the cutoff with the {A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Douglas Ferreira Souza called in the blinds with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. The board came {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and that was it for Bou Habib.
