Kolkowicz on the Rise, Loosli Falls

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Michael Kolkowicz won two hands in a row to surpass the 300k mark. In the first hand, Sylvain Loosli was all in for his last 9,100 against his countryman holding {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Kolkowicz had {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and spiked a king on the river to send the former November Niner packing.

A couple of hands later, Gianluca Speranza raised to 2,500 on the button. Kolkowicz three-bet to 8,600 from the small blind and Speranza called. The dealer spread out the {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, Kolkowicz bet 14,700 and Speranza called. Both players checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn.

On the {3-Spades} river, Kolkowicz seized out 33,600 and casually slid it forward. Speranza took his time before calling it off, but couldn't beat Kolkowicz' {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

Luneau Wins a Big Flip

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

After a raise and a three-bet by Yang Zhang, Alex Luneau four-bet shoved for 20 big blinds from one seat over. The initial raiser folded and Zhang called with slightly more chips than Luneau, tabling the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Luneau had a flip with {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and got there on a board of {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

With 153 players remaining, the money bubble is less than 10 spots away and Zhang's miracle never happened, he busted and jumped right into the next Side Event.

Vidal Moves Up

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Raffaele Sorrentino raised to 5,500 and Nicolas Fuentes Vidal on the button as well as Viliyan Petleshkov in the big blind came along for the ride to see a flop of {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades}. Petleshkov checked and Sorrentino continued for 6,800, which only Vidal called.

After the {9-Diamonds} turn, both players checked and the {10-Spades} on the river triggered a check by Sorrentino. Vidal bet 20,000 and that won the pot uncontested.

Jaka Wins a Big One

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The player under the gun opened for 6,500 and big blind Faraz Jaka called. Both players checked {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and the {Q-Spades} hit the turn. Jaka bet out 8,000 and his neighbor raised to 23,000. Jaka called and check-called another 36,000 on the off suit {10-}-river. The under-the-gun player showed {A-}{10-} but the pot went to Jaka who tabled {A-}{Q-}.

Mercier Shoves the Turn to Claim Pot

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Douglas Ferreira Souza raised to 5,000 and was called by Jason Mercier and Karen Oliver. On the {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, the Brazilian continued for 7,200 and both opponents called before the {J-Clubs} fell on the turn. Now Souza made it 25,000 to go and Mercier moved all in.

Oliver tank-folded and Souza also quickly let go to let the PokerStars Team Pro collect the pot without showdown.

Smith Busts Schemion

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The two had tangled before, and just now another confrontation between Dan Smith and Ole Schemion proved fatal for the latter. We got there on the turn but Smith told us the details afterward.

Schemion opened the cutoff and Smith three-bet from the button that forced out both blinds. Schemion called out of position and checked on {5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Smith checked back so the {10-Hearts} on the turn was seen for free. Schemion bet 10,000 and Smith slid forward a big tower of blue 5,000-chips to put his German neighbor all in. Schemion had about 55,000 or so and called after thinking it over for a bit.

Dan Smith: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Ole Schemion: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

Schemion needed a queen, jack, eight or king but wouldn't get any of those. Instead, the {3-Diamonds} completed the board and the €10,000 Opening Event champion said his goodbyes after bumping fists with Smith.
