The 20 High Rollers are on their first 10-minute break of the day with the field stacking up as follows:
2017 PokerStars Festival Manila
Hand 1
Edward Yam raised to 500 from the cutoff and Hoang Long Do defended the small blind to see a flop of ![]()
![]()
. Do checked, Yam bet 600 and called a check-raise to 1,600. Do then checked the Ah] turn and Yam won the pot with a bet of 1,350.
Hand 2
With 4,500 in the middle and the turn showing ![]()
![]()
![]()
, Xiaoling Li checked and Simon Hermann bet 2,500 into a pot of 4,500. Li check-raised to 6,900 and Hermann called before the
river completed the board. Li made it 10,200 to go and Hermann used one time-bank chip, the second player to do so after Jun Obara, before eventually tossing in a single chip for the call.
Li turned over ![]()
for kings and queens, and Hermann had an equally strong hand with ![]()
.
The field has grown to 20 with the arrival of Malaysia’s Wai Kiat Lee, whom we caught involved in a sizable pot against Japan’s Jun Obara.
We missed the pre-flop raise sizing but arrived just in time to see the dealer spread the ![]()
![]()
flop in a three-way hand involving Obara (small blind), Lee (middle position) and Bach Hoang Nguyen (button) with over 2,000 in blinds and antes already in the pot.
Obara checked the action over to Lee, who led out for 800 and while this was enough to get Nguyen to bow out Obara made the call to take play heads-up to the
turn.
Obara checked once more and Lee fired a 2,800 second barrel, which Obara called fairly swiftly and the dealer peeled off the
river.
The Japanese player checked for a third time and Lee bet big, firing out a bet of 8,100. Obara called immediately but could only tap the table and muck when Lee turned over ![]()
for a rivered top set.
With just around 5,000 in the middle and the turn reading ![]()
![]()

, Timofey Asmolov got the remainder of his stack in after being put at risk by Yo Seb Rhee. Asmolov had already locked up the double with ![]()
for trips fives, as Rhee only held ![]()
for ace-king high, making the
river a formality.
Asmolov doubled for 17,975 and gets closer to the starting stack once again after a disastrous early spell in this High Roller tournament.
Michael Falcon raised to 625 and Yo Seb Rhee in the big blind asked for his stack size. "Around 20,000, the rest is over there," Falcon replied and pointed back at Rhee, who then called. On the ![]()
![]()
flop, Rhee check-raised from 800 to 2,100 and Falcon clicked it back to 6,800, which Rhee then called.
After the
fell on the turn, Rhee checked and Falcon moved all in to pick up a quick call by Rhee.

Falcon was drawing to an ace or deuce to double and a four to chop. Once the
fell on the river, Falcon grabbed his belongings and was ready to leave before it was pointed out that both chopped it up thanks to the straight on the board. "Oh, I was looking for ace deuce," the Dane added before sitting back down.
After just having sat down a few minutes ago, Ken Okada just took a big pot off Van Sang Nguyen. Joining the action on the three-way flop of ![]()
![]()
, Edward Yam in the small blind, Nguyen in the big blind and Okada all checked.
The
appeared on the turn and Yam checked, Nguyen bet 600 and Okada raised to 1,800. Yam got out of the way and Nguyen reraised to 4,700, which Okada quickly called. Nguyen also bet the
river for 3,700 and Okada's raise to 8,000 was reluctantly called to see Okada turn over ![]()
for a flush as winning hand.
The field has climbed to 19 with the arrivals of Xioling Li, Ken Okaea, Aki Virtanen and Antii Halme all taking their seats.
We caught the latter involved in a hand, though it was Hoang Long Do who kick started proceedings with an early position limp before Halme made it 500 to go from the cutoff.
Maxim Sorokin (button) re-raised to 1,750 and the action was on Edward Yam in the small blind. Yam let the shot clock tick down to 5 seconds before announcing ‘raise’ and slid out a chunky cold three-bet of 6,750.
While this was enough to get Do and Halme to bow out Sorokin was not deterred and made the call to take play heads-up to a flop of ![]()
![]()
.
Yam did not take long to lead out for 5,000 and Sorokin quickly folded leaving Yam free to scoop in a sizable pot without showdown and the Hong Kong player climbed to 89,000 to take an early lead.

Hand 1

on the river. Asmolov bet 3,100 and Falcon check-raised to 7,000, which the Russian called.
"That was not a good river," Falcon said and tabled his ![]()

Hand 2
After two limps by Hoang Long Do and Asmolov, Simon Burns squeezed to 700 and was called by John Plater, Falcon in the big blind and Do. The flop brought ![]()
![]()
and Do bet 1,700. Burns called, Plater folded and Do came along as well to go three-handed to the
turn. The action checked to Burns and the bet of 4,500 by the Brit was called only by Do.
After the
river, Do's check was followed by a bet of 13,000 by Burns and that won the pot.
