Day 2 Completed
Day 2 of the PokerStars Open Manchester Main Event, running at the Deansgate Hotel and hosted by Hippodrome Casino, has now drawn to a close. After 10 levels of action, 49 players have bagged and tagged to return for Day 3.
A total of 927 entries were made to the tournament across four starting flights and, including late regs, 381 sat down at the start of Day 2 to compete for their share of the £1,000,000 prize pool.
Ravi Sheth came out on top, bagging a total of 1,810,000. Sheth has a few five-figure scores over the last few years and is now well on track to beat his previous best of €16,500 for finishing 16th in the 2024 EPT Monte Carlo €2,200 FPS High Roller.
Sheth is trailed by Jay O'Leary, who managed to maintain and grow his stack gradually throughout the day to bag in second place with 1,600,000 chips.
United Kingdom pro Jack Hardcastle, who has over $2.4 million in live winnings, bagged in third with 1,030,000, while 2023 UKIPT Blackpool Main Event winner Tuan Le finished in fourth. Hasmukh Khodiyara rounds out the top five.

Ian Simpson wasn't so fortunate. After starting Day 2 as the chip leader, his aces were cracked by ace-king inside the money to bust out in 78th place.
At least Simpson made the money. Alex Todd didn't. He was eliminated on the stone bubble when he ran his pocket kings into aces. The rest of the players locked up at least a min-cash. Below are the remaining payouts when players return.

49 players in the PokerStars Open Manchester Main Event have bagged and tagged for the end of Day 2. Standby for the chip counts and recap on PokerNews.
As seen by famous PokerNews photographer Danny Maxwell, Terrance Reid was all in with ace-queen and ran into pocket queens on a queen-high board to lose nearly all of his stack. Reid was pretty much busted out by the TD until the dealer counted the chips to find out he had just one yellow 1,000 chip remaining.
"A chip and a chair", said Reid as he placed his chip, worth less than one-tenth of a big blind, in the middle on the next hand. The button isolated with a raise before Damien Palayer reraised to 72,000. The button folded leaving Palayer and Reid to flip their cards.
Terrance Reid: Q♠3♦
Damien Palayer: J♠J♥
The board ran out J♣7♠4♣K♥5♥ and Palayer improved to a set of jacks to win the pot, sending Reid to the rail.

There will be three more hands played today before players bag and tag.
Action was on the flop on a board of Q♥7♣8♥ and Andrew Hulme shoved all in for 189,000. Hasmukh Khodiyara instantly flicked in a chip to make the call and players revealed their hands.
Andrew Hulme: A♦7♦
Hasmukh Khodiyara: K♣K♥
Hulme was well behind as Khodiyara showed his overpair and it looked like he was set for a bustout. The turn was a blank, the 6♦, and the river came the A♣ to give Hulme a pair of aces on the river. He won the pot and doubled his stack as the day drew to a close.

Action was on the flop on a board of 3♣10♥2♣ and Michael Casson was all in for 80,000 against Nicholas Fellone, who had him covered.
Michael Casson: A♣8♣
Nicholas Fellone: A♥3♥
Casson was drawing to the nut flush, but the A♠ turn gave Fellone two pair and the 3♦ river completed his boat. He won the pot and Casson was eliminated.

Mohamed Kerkeni open-raised from middle position and Marc Fuses three-bet to 50,000 from the small blind. Kerkeni four-bet to 150,000 before Fuses five-bet all in, sending Kerkeni deep into the tank.
Eventually, the floor was called and the countdown began. Kerkeni eventually made the call, players commenting that the whole process took around five minutes. In the end, it was a flip as players flipped their cards.
Mohamed Kerkeni: A♥K♥
Marc Fuses: Q♥Q♦
Kerkeni quickly took the lead as the board ran out A♣5♦3♥4♣8♦ to give him a pair of aces. He won the pot to double up his stack.
