The river was the 3♠ and Davenport fired out a large bet of 75,000, which seemed to send Hulme into a bit of a spin as he squirmed on his chair before making the fold. Davenport scooped in the pot.

"All in and call!", shouted the dealer. It was Ian Simpson, all in for around 185,000 against Christopher Cunliffe, who looked him up from the next seat with the covering stack.

The flop came 8♥Q♦8♦ and Simpson looked pretty safe, although he pointed out the backdoor heart possibilities. The turn came the 10♦ and Cunliffe shouted out for a "jack!".

The river was a miraculous J♠, which gave Cunliffe the broadway straight. He cracked Simpson's aces to scoop in a huge pot that puts Cunliffe towards the top of the counts.

Simpson, who started Day 2 as the chip leader, was eliminated in 78th place.
