The Spadie

Thursday morning the battle kicked off in Event #1: $550 No-Limit Hold 'em of the PokerStars Summer Series at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia.

The entries came pouring in and the field had surpassed 100 runners by the end of Level 2. At the close of registration, the total had ballooned up to 174 entries. Of those, only 12.5 percent would move on to Day 2 and make the money. The bubble burst at about 8:30 p.m. with 21 remaining players moving on.

Vitaly Kouyazin bagged the 1a chip lead with 509,000. However, there are plenty of other healthy stacks moving on to Day 2. They include Boris Vaynberg (468,000), Christopher Book (464,000), Joshua Rothberg (455,500), Ronald Wilson (361,000), and Ryan Dodd (239,000).

Justin Martin was also among the top chip counts ending the night with 466,000. He had a steady increase in chips leading up to a huge hand that happened late in the day. Martin called a massive all-in with jacks in a rough spot, but came out the winner and rode that pot to the end of the flight.

There are still four more starting flights before Sunday's Day 2. Players that didn’t bag in 1a can try their luck tonight in 1b, Friday in 1c/1d, or the last flight, 1e, on Saturday. More than $81,000 is already in the prize pool and with those remaining flights the tournament is sure to crush the $200,000 guarantee.

Day 1c kicks off at tomorrow morning, August 24th, at 11:15 a.m. and there will also be a second flight tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. The Day 1 flights will conclude with the last flight Saturday morning at 11:15 a.m. Day 2 will begin on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. when the surviving players will battle it out for a share of the prize pool and the coveted silver Spadie trophy.

Lestingi Gets a Great Turn

Level 15 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Action was opened in late position by Vincent Lestingi to 10,500. It folded to a player in the small blind who went all in for less. The big blind called the 10,500 and the three players were off to a flop with one player all in.

The 468 flop hit the felt and action checked to Lestingi who continued for 10,000. The player in the big blind folded and Lestingi and the small blind were off to a turn and river.

Small Blind: QQ
Vincent Lestingi: A6

The small blind had a commanding lead. Until the 6 landed on the turn. The river 8 would not improve the small blind. Lestingi would get some big help from the deck on his way to a knockout.

PokerStars Confirms $7 Million In Guarantees For 2023 NACOOP Schedule

2023 NACOOP
2023 NACOOP

Poker players in North America can look forward to a guaranteed $7 million worth of tournaments for PokerStars' inaugural NACOOP.

This event brings the thrill of the PokerStars flagship Championship Of Online Poker series to the markets in Ontario, Pennsylvania, and the combined Michigan/New Jersey market.

For the first time ever, the COOPs in these three markets are being synchronized to create the combined season of NACOOP.

Of the $7,000,000 in guarantees, $3,000,000 is earmarked for tournaments in the combined Michigan and New Jersey market. PACOOP will get $2,500,000. And the ONCOOP gets the remaining $1,500,000 — which comes to about 2,000,000 CAD.

The NACOOP series launches on September 15 in all three markets. The high-octane action will continue until October 2.

During this time players aren't just competing for the huge cash prizes, there will also be a 24-karat gold-plated trophy for the winners of the NACOOP Main Events in each market.

To play the NACOOP in the US, you will need to sign up for an account with PokerStars PA, PokerStars NJ, or PokerStars MI. You will need to be located within the relevant state in order to play.
