$550 Summer Series Event 1

Day 1e Completed

Only One Question Remains. Who Will Win It All?

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Gilberto Taveras Garcia

The five Day 1 flights have come to an end in Event #1: $550 No Limit Hold’em at the PokerStars Summer Series at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia.

Before the tournament had even started, Saturday morning’s flight had already become the largest. There were over 200 runners before the clock had even started. By the end of late registration, 389 players took their shot at the prize pool that smashed the guarantee. The competition was fierce but after the dust settled just 49 players would find a bag and be in the money.

The day saw plenty of action but after all was said and done it appears that Gilberto Taveras-Garcia holds the chip lead with 713,000 from the final flight. This is still nowhere close to the overall chip leader going into Day 2, which is Sridhar Sangannagari with 971,000 from Flight 1d. Only time will tell if someone can take him out of the top spot and claim the coveted PokerStars Spadie trophy.

Casino and Hotel Philadelphia?

Paulino Rips It In

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Action was opened in middle position by Victor Paulino to 15,000. It folded to a player in the cutoff who called and the big blind came along too.

The flop came 362 and the Big blind didn't think for long before leading out for 18,000. Action was then on Paulino who open jammed as fast as he could.

The third player in the hand quickly folded and action was back on the big blind. He sat in the tank for a few moment but eventually shook his head and folded.

Paulino would earn the pot after some well timed aggression.

Crowder Bets Big on the Turn

Level 15 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Action was opened by Keith Crowder in middle position to 12,000. It then folded to the small blind who put in a cold three-bet to 35,000. Crowder thought it over and eventually called.

The 23A flop hit the felt and Crowder called a 25,000 continuation bet from his opponent.

The turn brought a Q and the small blind slowed down and checked. Crowder thought over his options for about a minute before putting out a large sizing of 50,000.

His opponent went into the tank for a few moments but eventually found a fold. Crowder is now sitting close to the top of the leaderboard.
