Chalkiotis Wins $1,050 HORSE Championship to Deny Zerjav a 2025 Hattrick

Manolis “hangoverdose” Chalkiotis is the latest mixed-game champion at WCOOP after winning the $1,050 HORSE Championship. The two-day event drew 79 entries to create a $79,000 prize pool, with Chalkiotis banking $19,664 and his third career WCOOP title.

Chalkiotis defeated Blaz “Scarmak3r” Zerjav heads-up to secure the title. Zerjav was chasing his third victory of the 2025 series and what would have been his sixth WCOOP title overall, but instead had to settle for $14,919.

Other notable finalists included Adam “ISmellToast” Crawford, who finished third for $11,187, and Adam “Adamyid” Owen, who bowed out in seventh place.

"B00mslang" Wins Two Titles While Nemeth and "roo_400" Join Six-Time WCOOP Winners Club

Thursday at the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) saw 19 champions crowned on PokerStars across No Limit Hold’em, PLO, Razz, HORSE, and bounty formats, with several guarantees once again comfortably eclipsed throughout the schedule.

The headline story belonged to "B00mslang", who was the only player of the day to win two titles. They first took down the $109 PLO (WCOOP 21-M) for $10,649 before returning to capture the $1,050 6-Max NLHE (WCOOP 28-H) for $31,485 for their first two WCOOP victories.

Other notable results included Mario “t4t0PAGAU” Navarro, who claimed his third WCOOP title in the $530 Bounty Builder HR, and Andras “probirs” Nemeth, who secured his sixth career WCOOP title in the $1,050 PLO. Manolis “hangoverdose” Chalkiotis also added a third WCOOP title by winning the $1,050 HORSE Championship, while long-time grinder "roo_400" picked up their sixth title in the $530 Turbo PKO, their first since bagging a trio of titles in 2022.

At the same time, new names broke through for maiden WCOOP wins, including "vlwflw", "RenALLiin", "lyren154", and "Vincma720".

It’s a packed day on PokerStars as another 18 WCOOP events get underway, spanning buy-ins from just $5.50 to $5,200.

The day begins at 10:05 a.m. ET with a three-tiered No Limit Hold’em event ($5.50, $55, and $530), before attention shifts to mixed-game fans at 11:30 a.m. ET with the $11, $109, and $1,050 Razz [6-Max].

Mystery Bounty action takes center stage from 12:30 p.m. ET, with $11, $109, and $1,050 editions combining for $675,000 in guarantees. Also starting at the same time is the $1,050 Fixed Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Championship, offering a $60,000 guarantee.

All eyes will then be on the Thursday Thrill at 14:05 ET, one of WCOOP’s most popular Progressive Knockout tournaments. The $215, $1,050, and $5,200 editions boast combined guarantees of over $1 million.

Shawn “buck21” Buchanan Wins First WCOOP Title Since 2007

Shawn “buck21” Buchanan is back in the WCOOP winner’s circle after nearly two decades. Buchanan topped a 290-entry field in the $1,050 Super Tuesday (WCOOP 17-M) to claim $55,354 and his second career WCOOP title.

Buchanan’s previous WCOOP win came all the way back in 2007, when he captured the $530 Pot-Limit Omaha event for $97,263. This latest victory is also his first COOP title of any kind since 2016, and brings his overall tally to eight COOP titles: six from SCOOP and now two from WCOOP.

The $290,000 prize pool was shared among some of the toughest names in the game. "chrisgoataui" finished runner-up for $41,473, while Alexandros “Pwndidi” Theologis claimed third place for $31,072.

Romanovsky Secures Fourth WCOOP Title in $109 Super Tuesday

Roman “RomeOpro” Romanovsky continued his strong track record in online majors by winning the $109 Super Tuesday (WCOOP 17-L) for $36,739. The event drew 2,444 entries, creating a $250,000 prize pool, and saw Romanovsky pick up his fourth WCOOP title in the last three years.

His latest victory adds to previous WCOOP wins in the $10,300 High Roller (2023, $203,121), the $2,100 Turbo PKO (2023, $65,304), and the $5,200 Thursday Thrill High Roller (2024, $152,821). In total, Romanovsky has now won more than $450,000 from his WCOOP triumphs.

Brazil’s “Manu8866” finished as runner-up for $26,188, while Lithuania’s “TTPlayer18” claimed third place and $18,668.
