Chalot Denies Zerjav in the $1,050 Thursday Thrill

Benjamin Chalot
Benjamin Chalot

Ireland-based Frenchman Benjamin "BC1989RF" Chalot claimed his first WCOOP title and a cool $76,535 payday after coming out on top in the WCOOP 27-M: $1,050 PKO Thursday Thrill.

Day 1 of this two-day high-stakes event took place on September 11 and concluded on September 13, as September 12 was a rest day for the WCOOP grinders.

Any of the nine finalists would have made a worthy champion, but it was Chalot who bested them all to earn that honor. Chalot left the likes of Ognyan "cocojamb0" Dimov, Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph, and Vlad "dariepoker" Darie in his wake as he navigated his way to a heads-up battle with Slovenian superstar Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav.

Chalot then defeated Zerjav in the one-on-one battle, which denied the latter his sixth WCOOP title; he would later secure that sixth win in the $1,050 FLO8 event. With bounties included, Chalot padded his PokerStars bankroll with $76,535, leaving Zerjav to collect a $42,883 consolation prize.

Blaz Zerjav Secures Sixth WCOOP Title

Blaz Zerjav
Blaz Zerjav

Blaz Zerjav became a six-time WCOOP champion after taking down WCOOP 33-H: $1,050 FLO8 6-Max.

A compact but star-studded field of 55 entrants fought it out over the $55,000 prize pool and the all-important WCOOP title. The top nine finishers shared that sum, with "Gambler4444" being the unfortunate soul who popped the money bubble.

As the clock ticked around toward 1:30 a.m. BST, Zerjav found himself heads-up against Austria's "Keep3r" for the title and the lion's share of the prize pool. Zerjav, who won his first WSOP bracelet over the summer, came out on top and captured WCOOP title number six and $17,364 in prize money.

Big WCOOP Results on a Busy Saturday Night

2025 PokerStars WCOOP

Elton John once sang "Saturday night's alright for fighting", and there was certainly plenty of battles going on at the PokerStars 2025 World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) tables on September 13. A total of 20 events crowned their worthy champions on the first day of the weekend, including a few high-profile first-time winners, and one player capturing their sixth title.

Jonathan "Proudflop" Proudfoot was the biggest single winner on Saturday, courtesy of coming out on top in the $5,200 buy-in edition of the Thursday Thrill. With progressive bounties included, Proudfoot scooped an impressive $120,603 to go with his second WCOOP gong.

In the $1,050 buy-in edition of the Thursday Thrill, Frenchman Benjamin "BC1989RF" Chalot came out on top and netted $76,535. Chalot denied Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav heads-up, but Zerjav made amends later in the evening, becoming a six-time WCOOP champion after triumphing in the $1,050 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo.

Several other events were paused after their respective Day 1 conclusions. They included the $2,100 No-limit Hold'em where Patrick "pads1161" Leonard leads the final nine as he aims to get his hands on a 12th WCOOP title and a $42,645 top prize.

After a scheduled day off on Friday, WCOOP returns with a jam-packed weekend schedule. From low-stakes grinders to high-rolling regulars, there’s something for everyone as deep stacks, mixed games, and huge Sunday majors take centre stage.

What’s Wrapping Up on Saturday

Before the new events kick off, several ongoing tournaments will crown champions on Saturday. That includes the $1,050 2-7 Triple Draw Championship, where Blaz “Scarmak3r” Zerjav leads the final seven, as well as all three editions of the Thursday Thrill ($215, $1,050, and $5,200 High Roller).

Saturday will also see the conclusion of multiple NLHE events, with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $530, plus three Mystery Bounty tournaments at the $11, $109, and $1,050 levels.

Saturday’s New Line-Up

Fresh tournaments begin Saturday at 10:05 UTC with the Deep Stack NLHE trio ($5.50, $55, and $530), followed by three versions of the 8-Game mix at 11:30 UTC. Later in the day, players can jump into the always popular Saturday KO Progressive Bounties ($11, $109, $1,050), alongside FLO8 and standard NLHE formats. The evening closes out with 5-Max Turbo PKOs to keep the action fast and furious.

Sunday Spotlight: The Big Guarantees

Sunday is traditionally the busiest day of WCOOP, and this week is no exception. The schedule features the $109 Sunday Million with a $1 million guarantee, the $1,050 Sunday High Roller ($750K gtd), and the $10,300 Super High Roller ($500K gtd).

Also beginning on Sunday is the $5,200 NLHE 6-Max Championship, boasting a $650K guarantee, alongside a trio of 5-Card PLO events and several Progressive KO formats. The weekend wraps up with three Turbo events, including the $5,200 edition.

"B00mslang" Wins Two Titles in One Night at WCOOP

wcoop
wcoop

Winning one title at WCOOP is an achievement most players dream about. Winning two on the same night? That’s something truly special.

That’s exactly what Germany's "B00mslang" managed on September 11, becoming the only player of the day — and the third this series — to capture two WCOOP titles in one session.

The feat puts them alongside Blaz “Scarmak3r” Zerjav and Vladimir “SerVlaMin” Minko, the only others to have pulled off the double so far in 2025.

Title No. 1: Triumph in the $109 PLO

B00mslang’s run began in the $109 Pot-Limit Omaha event, which attracted 609 entries, surpassing its $50,000 guarantee to create a $60,900 prize pool.

The eventual champion navigated a 7-handed final table that included Jussi “calvin7v” Nevanlinna, before sealing the deal for $10,649 and their maiden WCOOP title.

Title No. 2: Closing Out the $1,050 NLHE Turbo

Barely hours later, B00mslang was back at another final table, this time in the fast-paced $1,050 NLHE 6-Max Turbo. The event drew 143 entries, building a $150,000 prize pool.

In a tough line-up that featured Alexandros “Pwndidi” Theologis, Pascal “Pass_72” Lefrancois, and the aforementioned Minko, B00mslang once again went all the way. After defeating Enrico “WhaTisL0v3” Camosci heads-up, they secured a second trophy on the night along with a $31,485 payday.

With two trophies and combined winnings of $42,134, B00mslang transformed themselves from a first-time champion into one of the breakout names of WCOOP 2025.
