Nolet Wins WCOOP Super Tuesday High Roller; Neymar Seventh

Guillaume Nolet
Guillaume Nolet

Plenty of eyes firmly on Neymar in the $10,300 Super Tuesday High Roller at PokerStars WCOOP. The soccer superstar and ambassador reached the final seven of the 60-entry event, but his bid for a first major online poker title ended with a seventh-place finish for $26,111.

Day 2 began with Neymar returning as the short stack, while Pedro “PaDiLhA SP” Padilha and Ole “wizowizo” Schemion held the overnight chip lead. Neymar was the first to fall when play resumed, but the two leaders followed him to the rail shortly after in sixth and fifth place.

From there, the path cleared for Canada’s Guillaume “Nolet20” Nolet, who outlasted a tough final table to capture the $186,434 top prize and his third WCOOP title in as many years.

Among those chasing Nolet were UK businessman Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi, who banked $134,351 for second place, and Austria’s “[Removed:560],” who collected $96,818 for third. Online crusher Linus “LLinusLLove” Loeliger (4th – $69,771) also fell short of adding to his already impressive online résumé.

Tuesday was another stacked day at the 2025 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), with a dozen titles awarded across a mix of deep stacks, progressive knockouts and the always-popular Super Tuesday.

Several big names came through in style. Roman “RomeOpro” Romanovsky added to his impressive resume by banking his fourth career WCOOP title in Event #17-L ($109 Super Tuesday), while Guillaume “nolet20” Nolet picked up his third in three years by conquering the $10,300 High Roller edition of the same event for a massive $186,434.

Canada’s Shawn “buck21” Buchanan also returned to the winner’s circle, winning the $1,050 Super Tuesday for his first WCOOP title since 2007.

Elsewhere, "PotnaPekka", "royal jascha" and "jr050685" all earned maiden WCOOP victories in the Bounty Builder variants, while "SSchranck" took down the $320 Deep Stack for his first taste of WCOOP glory. Turbo PKO events also crowned new champions, with "grinder1992", "Str0j" and "cozabradford" among those to scoop titles.

In total, 12 new champions were minted, several prize pools comfortably surpassed guarantees, and a mix of seasoned crushers and first-time winners shared the spotlight.

Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav at the Double

Blaz Zerjav
Blaz Zerjav

After two SCOOP titles earlier this year, Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav has wasted no time in adding two more WCOOP titles to his name, bringing his tally to five.

Two victories in the space of 90 minutes netted the Slovenian over $30,000. First he topped a final table featuring Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich to win WCOOP 10-M: $215 HORSE. He then followed that up with victory in WCOOP 13-H: $320 NLHE, with "king153246" making an appearance at that final table.

Zerjav also won two WCOOP titles in 2024, but with so much of the schedule left to run, how many could he win this year?
