Leonard Maue
Leonard Maue

Another week, another WCOOP World Championship event has kicked off, and this time it's WCOOP $5,200 World Championship of 6-Max NLHE.

With Leonard "Grozzorg" Maue second in chips at the WCOOP 38-H: $10,300 PKO High Roller, he's going to have a busy night as he leads the final seven players in this one.

He leads from Dominik "Bounatirou" Nitsche, who unbelievably has just one COOP title to his name, a SCOOP title from 2020. Third in chips Marcelo "marceloaziz" Aziz won the only WCOOP title of his career in 2022, while Leon "RUMUKULUS" Sturm continues to impress during this year's WCOOP.

Could a third title for Vladimir "SerVlaMin" Minko be on the horizon in WCOOP 38-H: $10,300 NLHE [Progressive KO, Super High Roller]?

He leads the final six players, all eyeing up the first-place prize of $87,354. However, Minko holds a massive bounty on his head in this PKO format, and will need to fight off the likes off Leonard "Grozzorg" Maue, Andy "BowieEffect" Wilson and eleven-time WCOOP champion Niklas "Lena900" Astedt.

Just 20 players remain in WCOOP 40-H: $1,050 NLHE as Preben "prebz" Stokkan heads the counts in pursuit of his third WCOOP title.

In this PKO format, Stokkan holds the largest bounty and will be looking to secure that and victory, in what would be his first WCOOP title since 2020.

Plenty of familiar faces litter the chip counts, including six-time WCOOP champion Andras "probirs" Nemeth and PokerStars Ambassador Alejandro "[Papo]AR" Lococo.

Can Patrick Leonard Become a 12-Time WCOOP Champion?

Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

Patrick "pads1161" Leonard is eight eliminations away from becoming a 12-time WCOOP champion. The popular British star returns to the action in WCOOP 34-H: $2,100 NLHE with a sizable chip lead with only nine players remaining.

Should Leonard triumph in this event, he will become only the fifth player in history to win at least 12 WCOOP events. He will join Benny "RunGodlike" Glaser (15), Tobias "Senkel92" Leknes (13), Joao "Naza114" Vieira (13), and Denis "aDrENalin710" Strebkov (13) in a very exclusive club.

Though Leonard has the upper hand at the start of the final table, the likes of the aforementioned Vieira, "Sintoras" and Samuel "€urop€an" Vousden will have a major input in whether Leonard binks his 12th WCOOP event or not.

Jonathan Proudfoot Wins Second WCOOP Title and $120,603

Jonathan Proudfoot
Jonathan Proudfoot

Jonathan "Proudflop" Proudfoot can call himself a two-time WCOOP champion after becoming the last man standing in WCOOP 27-H: $5,200 PKO Thursday Thrill High Roller. It was Proudfoot's first WCOOP victory since 2021, but the $120,603 he banked made the wait worthwhile.

Seventy-two entrants created a $360,000 prize pool. Half of that sum was shared by the top nine finishers, with the remaining 50% placed on each entrant's head in the form of a progressive bounty.

Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr fired three bullets but eventually fell in 18th without collecting a single scalp. Ole "wizowizo" Schemion was the player who burst the money bubble, his tenth-place exit locking in $5,770 for the surviving players.

The likes of Niklas "Lena900" Astedt and fellow Swede "flerrehuve" crashed out from the final table early, with Renan "Internett93o" Bruschi and Patrick "pads1161" Leonard falling by the wayside in fifth and fourth place, respectively.

Proudfoot found himself heads-up against Germany's three-time WCOOP champion "Sintoras." Proudfoot got the job done and his hands on a cool $120,603 and WCOOP title number two.

Swiftie4Life Causes Major Upset in the 2-7 Triple Draw Championship

The PokerStars WCOOP World Championship events always bring out online poker's elite players, and that was certainly the case in the 2-7 Triple Draw World Championship. Between them, the seven finalists had almost 30 WCOOP titles. "Swiftie4Life" caused a major upset by leaving those stars in their wake and claiming their first WCOOP victory.

Terrence "Unassigned" Chan was the first player to bust from the final table. Argentina's "timbateamproo" joined Chan on the rail before the hot-running Slovenian Blaz "Scarmak3r" Zerjav bowed out in fifth.

The elimination of "FMpire" left only three players in the hunt for the $21,153 top prize. Those three became two when mixed game specialist "FAL1st" busted in third before "Swiftie4life" sent Joao "Naza114" Vieira home in second-place, just shy of his 14th WCOOP victory.
